well if you listen to him on tv he often uses the line about short favs "it'll probably go 4/5 by the off" which is a standing joke, but i think people have upset him a bit because they've ruined his punchline

well leeds, i think if a few of the regulars apologise to dave he might relent and stay, someone was also taking the pish about dave on another thread referring to him not being able to complete any sentence on tv without saying "errr" or "errm" and i think they should prob apologise too

if he is nevison , i would imagine he makes his living from his media posts rather than betting on them . as such his opinion is nothing more than that and any knowledgeable punter could do the same .

D Nevison worked in the City before embarking on the horse racing project. In the early days, he used to buy horses out of sellers, and put them with his trainer who improved them, and then sold them on. Now has a cosy studio job plus the occasional outside broadcast with RTV, so probably not short. Interesting snippet when in the studio the other day, when he explained that the firm he worked for in the City were instrumental in the design /construction of Randwick racecourse in Oz. More than meets the eye.

He still hankers for the glory days of staying dogs like Ballyregan Bob and Scurlogue Champ from the 80's.
He puts up useless slugs at big odds on over marathons now who he hopes are the reincarnation of those old plodders but they are in fact just like most of us - middle aged cloggers, dodgy of mind and legs.
40 years out of date just like the greatest sport/show on earth - the dog game.
Happy memories.

Penzance, Ballyregan Bob in a 750m @ Romford. Surely over 575m? Only ran once at 710m Wembley in that famous race, other races shorter. Also I find a one-off 740m Invitation event at home track Hove.

A Bloody Good Winner: Life as a Professional Gambler By Dave Nevison makes a reference to another pro gambler called seaside. So unlikely to be him. Whether it the op, who knows?

ballyregan ...seaside his greyhound tips were second to none...
Very true; laying his Friday odds-on dog tips was a licence to print in money during the most recent lock down. Seldom seem such consistency on this forum.
