Anybody else been sustained by racing ?

Without the gee gees over the last 21 years, or so, think I might have run a hot bath and opened a vein some years back.

Absolutely no connection with racing, so to speak. Wouldn't know a bog spavin from a stifle. But, without that puzzle, each and every day, of trying to unearth a single winner from a mass of contradictory data, don't quite know what I would've done.

Saw me through the deaths of the three most important people in my life, and still about the only thing that keeps me grounded today.

Certainly important, but as a wildlife enthusiast living in a country village, I have a second way to occupy my mind so I am fortunate in not really missing human contact. 90% of my days are spent doing what I would have been doing 2 years ago.

You are so right bluebook . Just think what reaction would we get though if we put it out there that gambling in some cases can actually help with Mental Health Issues. The Mainstream Media would have a fit !

Same here for me, apart from family my life would be vacuous without it, sl@gging United could keep me going for a while but as a United fan that itself gets depressing at times.!

That's an interesting point, sludge.

And it just goes to show what a terribly shallow understanding the MSM has of the world.

I would have to admit that horse and greyhound racing has been a key part of my life, going way back to walking Dad's greyhounds on Sunday mornings as a 7 year old in 1974. Bunking off school to go to the Wednesday Epsom Derby, Catford and Wimbledon dogs alike, I have always

Yes, I always mysteriously went down with something on the Wednesday of the Derby which kept me from school.

But stranger still, it was never bad enough to stop me going to Epsom with mum and dad. Wink

Had my first bet around the age of 9 or so.

The buzz of going racing has always been special.

not the be-all and end-all though to be honest.

my Dad's just hit 80 and had a couple of health scares the last 5 yrs...going to the betting shop every day to do an hr or 2 study for his Lucky15s is his life (aside from a few quiz shows in the aft and the grandkids, of course)
