So is this bad news for P J McDonald?
139 rides for MJ in 2019, 20 winners and £272K in prize money. Last year 115 rides, 15 winners and £200K in prize money. So far this year just the 15 rides for him. |

As I explained on a similar Thread yesterday.
I do not think that there is a 'Number 1' really. Curtis has come on board - because ... With the Covid RESTRICTIONS - JOCKEYS can now ride at ONLY ONE Meeting per day Johnston has runners at most meetings - and as we move into Evening Racing - with 3 Meetings in the afternoon Plus a couple more in the Evening - then Johnston, obviously, will NEED more Different Jockeys - for all his runners everywhere. |

Piece here about it, no formal arrangement, just he'll be riding "more and more" for the yard.
MJ hasn't had a retainer with any jockey since Kevin Darley in 2006. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/ben-curtis-ride-more-more-23291535 |
