on paper it looks a 2 horse race between monmiral and adagio ,monmiral unbeaten 4 from 4 and missed the triumph to come here gonna be hard to beat but is a short price ,adagio probably the form horse on what he has acheived so far and top form when 2nd to quixilios in the triumph solid chance but also too short for me . one that intrigues me is hendos paros very highly touted prre season he dissapointed for one reason or another in his first 2 starts but was better at mussleburg last time winning comfortably and can be backed at 33/1 today. on the face of it he has a mountain to climb but hendo is no mug so why pitch him here surely easier tasks elsewhere could be a muddling race and at the prices 33/1 will do for me .
i like a few bites of the cherry at decent prices and fiveandtwenty could set the pace and is improving and could get a soft lead and suprise a few 12/1 bog is fair imo . no suprise if the favs have this between them but you wont get rich backing them and you dont need to put much on to win plenty at the prices .

as said this horse had a huge reputation before his british debut ,should he be 33/1 ? still unexposed and with a yard that knows its onions.
I have believed that Monmiral is the best 4yo in training since his GB debut and won't change my mind now despite being a fan of Adagio. Get on Monmiral for the 2022 Arkle as soon as that market opens.

Adagio is my only bet of the day, I'm hopeful he will be too good for the jolly in what should be a very good contest.
It’s clearly a match , the others have absolutely no chance . Paros wouldn’t win if it was as left off at 1 o clock . It is an absolute creature and is even going the wrong way around . It’s real price should be 100000/1 , in fact it has no real price as it cannot possibly win . Monmiral will win if it isn’t inconvenienced by quicker conditions.
Sageform, Monmiral is 40/1 with numerous books for the Arkle according to oddschecker.
Farhh and Mastercraftsman are reasonable sires for hurdling at this end of the distance spectrum on goodish ground, so I have placed small speculative bets on John Locke and Fiveandtwenty.
How quick is the ground actually going to be. CoC has been watering all week to maintain "good to soft"?
I think it will be good to soft today. I meant "goodish" compared to the Somme-like conditions we have seen all winter.
The going is an issue as Adagio is a useful flat horse that has proved to be a class hurdler while Monmiral is a jumping horse through and through and might not want it close to good.
adagio is the best horse in the race imo and ran a cracker in the triumph, not gone on monmiral, 5and20 has a chance and i think he will improve on better ground
Have had similar thoughts about the race Foyles,gone for John Locke ew 2 and 3 places. GL all.
The 'experts' reckon the ground is against the fav as 'he has been running on deep mid winter ground'.

Well done fav backers,fluffing the last didn't help but made no difference to the result.The winner is a lovely horse indeed.

Yes 1st time, I winced after the first in the back straight when to took off a stride early but Harry didn't bat an eye. No doubts at all from then on.
Seems that Paul Nicholls is leaning towards another year over hurdles for Monmiral so Cobden was jumping the gun after the race yesterday. I will wait until October unless I can get a very good price for the Arkle. The 40/1 has become 20/1 on PP.
Yes, Nicholls mentioned the Fighting Fifth after the race. Well done winners, this one looks a bit special.
