An utter disgrace the horse has not been allowed his chance for a 3rd national win. The weight he received is correct give or take a pound. O'Leary a spoilt brat and a horror of a man.
By:
O'leary should be charged an excess
baggage charge for the weight tiger roll would have carried |
By:
on the slide already.
are they putting the public away or being truthful and merely seeking a route to a lower handicap mark pending a tilt next year. |
By:
Absolutely crazy situation. Taken out of the Grand National which Tiger Roll had a pretty good chance of winning despite the weight and put in the 3m G1 Bowl Chase which he cannot win. Sadly his best chance of making history by winning the Grand National three years on the trot was taken away by Covid-19 last year.

By:
will do some work on the race as i originally thought 4/1 was a good price, anyone enlighten me why he has no chance likes the ground likes aintree won with a double hand full lto
By:
won with a double hand full lto
won the dads race at the school sports with a double hand full once. gubbed by linford christie 3 weeks later. |
By:
Seriously?
Tiger roll has never won a G1 chase. Hasn't even run in one as far as I can determine. For more than three years has been running exclusively in the Grand National, Cross Country chases (and a couple of hurdle races). Ran terribly in one try over Aintree Mildmay course (hurdle race in 2016). Granted the Bowl is a weak G1 race this year, but Tiger Roll's best form over 3m looks at least a stone below what is normally required for a G1. He will get out paced and probably a long way behind for a staying on 2nd last on a track that is two tight for him. |
By:
plus the dad's race was run 38 secs slow (presumably slower than standard)
he's having to compete off a mark considered prohibitive having won the GN twice, a hurdle race in 2019 and these egg and spoon affairs. On the face of it it has little chance. |
By:
It's hard to find anything in this race with a genuine chance.
By:
thanks will take a serious look and come back and report the findings, its a terrible race seem to recall he won at 25/1 when he had no chance he looked better than ever lto and gone very close in the national this time, he had it won 1 mile out in the last national he jumped like a stag, its a puzzler
By:
Seems very smelly this to me...
So they wouldn't run it in the Grand National because they didn't think it could win... But they're gonna run in a grade 1 which it also can't possibly win... Remember just before the 2019 National O'Leary said on TV can't possibly win... ![]() |
By:
84k to the winner. Huge prize for a so-so line-up.
if he finishes close up and not win in a G1 the h'capper wont relent so is he here to win or fall out the back of the tv set? intriguing race. |
By:
Would love to see him win it but my hunch is they've been galloping the horse out of sight around the galops at home to ensure he can't win, drop out the back of the tele tomorrow in the hope the handicapper relents somewhat and comes back next year as a 12 year old after running in that hurdle race again but bypassing the x-country
By:
Ok maybe not working the horse, but still ensuring he's not as fit as he could beConfused

I have seen the best Judges in Racing been made to look proper **** by Horses....What makes this clown any different.
By:
very poor group 1 with question marks on them all and the fav looks tricky to win with its a seriously open looking race, the one superstar in the race we are told has no chance by the racing manager 8/1, ive seen worse 6/4 favourites, its which one puts its best foot forward today, looks like a handicap to me this race
this could be its last race lets cheer him on, a superstar |

I would just love it if The Tiger Wins.

The more I think about it I thunk they are just scared of Cloth Cap, which is a shame cos he aint winning either.......

Acey, more chance of Tiger winning the Masters

Would you put it past these Two to deliberately drop the horse out - and be beaten a bucketful ...
- then sarcastically turn around and say - 'told you so' - to the Handicapper. Eddie O'Leary needs to find a way to riddle out of the Hole that he Dug for himself, and his brother, by having their unjustified fit of personal pique over the NON-issue of the National Rating/Weight. Eddie O'Leary - probably the luckiest man on the Planet to enjoy the privileged position in racing that he holds ... - just because his brother bought an Airline. |
By:
Onlooker, I suspect that the X country has made the greedy gets conclude that he could win another National. Would not be surprised of this is the first of a series of unprepossessing runs over fences. When next years handicap is out they might have a go at the X country again, and then a final run in the National.
By:
O'Leary is right, isn't he? Or at least he has an arguable point.
Bristol de Mai is on 167, Tiger Roll 166, The Storyteller 165. Bristol de Mai and The Storyteller are both Grade 1 chasers, Tiger Roll only Grade 3 and that is in the Grand National itself. |

Going to drop in price before the Off surely, what price is the Lay price.??

You don't get as rich as that mob by playing a straight hand
By:
what is o leary playing at, they know they made a mistake taking tiger out of the national and somehow blaming the handicapper now for running in this race. Tiger will be outpaced 4 out and get pulled up, exactly what they want

By:
Ramruma - O'Leary is right, isn't he? Or at least he has an arguable point.
Cut his nose of to spite his face. Probably wouldn't have won, but deserved the chance. Denied the chance of making history by Covid-19 last year and this year by belligerent connections. |
By:
I love the horse and would dearly love to see him win today but if he does it means he has been criminally miss-trained all his career.

By:
The problem here is basically this: The horse has put up, arguably, his best performances in unique races, as are the national & the cross country chase. Given this, the handicapper has no option to err on the side of caution. If an unknown handicapper came in from Germany, France, etc. they would get the same treatment. However, Gigginstown are not innocent here if they truly believe the horse has no chance, when a decent bank race is just around the corner in Punchestown.

Don't forget the Triumph hurdle win! Not over regular fences but none of todays rivals would have won a Triumph. I still don't fancy him today.
By:
Any chance of O'Leary coming out and apologising for this shambolic decision?

The GN weights came out on 16th Feb
Elliott receives interim suspension, by BHA, on 1st March Tiger Roll withdrawn from GN on March 2nd Good one Eddie ![]() |

Look this is a Man who took all his Horses away from the best trainer on the Planet because Mullins had the audacity to ask for a small increase in Training fees....Pig headed to the extreme.....I still like the guy even though he robbed us of a piece of History.

I think Jack gave it every chance ;)

Thought was out Schooling for the 1st circuit
![]() Would win no nationals on that run |

Looking at the timings, that was a fast race.
Maybe just run off his feet. |
By:
* Maybe just run off his feet against far classier opposition than in a X-Country or a National

Yes Jack was having none of it ,Lot of shoutinhg and roaring about it staying on , has it finnished yet ?
