Led, headed and tracked leader after 1st, briefly led after 10th, bad mistake 12th, soon dropped to last, became detached 14th, well behind but stayed on from 3 out, rapid headway when blundered last, kept on strongly run-in, led again towards finish

It's a wonder whoever laid didn't have a coronary the way it just suddenly appeared in the picture at the last fence.

special mindset laying them. when one wins, never think about how long it's going to take to get it back, just write if off to extremely bad luck & get laying again asap. rico lost 1/4 million on metal detector, was laying the next one 5 minutes later.

whatever happened to Racingluck, he couldnt stop winning. I rem he hit a few bad results, but came across a very consistent winner. Hopefully he didnt hit one of these type of big numbers as it would take some grit to get it back and on the right road again.

was £150,000 actually it was all over the press... and i'll reiterate,at that time i'd been going to thornaby for 9 weeks..in that time i was +£180,000..so i gave a bit back..life went on
stayinin...if you want to lay 1000 and leave it lying when they are out of shot you want ya heed looking at.. if you didnt get the £30 in the context it means nothing..if you do 30k it certainly does..a lesson learned.

strange thing is..at the time of race i was +16,000 on the week..in hindsight i should have tried to have 16k back on it and if lost i was level on the week..but it didnt look like winning at all till the last mile.

rico, so you had funds, you stood to lose £150k, you thought the horse had a chance in the last mile but did nothing, only one word for that, masochism. Didn't the Daily Star ever arrange for you to meet Thommo?!

Staying - have so much respect for you not many would post that loss..very surprised you left so much to be taken but lesson learnt it happens is all and you will get it back no doubt.. if you are betting that amount tho and not taken straight away I’d advise having a kill on it

Yes I think they mostly back bad value mano. But I suppose they just want the chance of a big payout out of the blue. Like buying a lottery ticket which is also bad value.

Manoleeds, exactly, MOST of the time. But yeah I also find it a waste of time. If you're good you will hit what, 1 in 500? Is it worth all that trouble?

Manoleeds 04 Apr 21 08:00 Who are the 1000 backers?
roberto is if the submitting of the 1000 upsets the race % and suits their agenda..if someone is in a hopeless position and a big 1000 is submitted, its either taken by a speculator or the person with the quickest pics if it gets back into the race.

since the 23rd of March 2020 and the first lockdown I have been out socialising once, my bookmaker took me and a in-running player out for dinner to a steak house restaurant in Yarm; it was very nice by the way.
We got reminiscing about good and bad days and we ended up talking about that fatal day at Thornaby, the in-running player had been there so I asked him how Steve took it, he said Ronnie you would not believe how well he took it, he just shrugged his shoulders and that was it.
Happy Easter everyone, Ronnie
