Half a furlong out he started to panic as the 2nd was catching him at a speed he wasn't expecting, if he had not started riding it out it would have been caught on the line, completely unnecessary.

I have watched David Bass since he started riding. He is a very good Jockey and loses very few races that he should have won. He is not an idiot but a very good horseman/Jockey and anybody that thinks otherwise is a very poor judge or as normal on the forum "pocket talking" This year has been his best year ever and he deserves all the rewards due. He is not over hard on the horse but ensures that the best possible place is normally obtained.
I have watched horse racing for over fifty years and I do not believe that the comments are accurate about David Bass and are uncalled for. Target the jockeys that ride to "orders" and fail to place.
