I suspect that the serious virus that was around in November/December put paid to many of the GB horses for the rest of the season. Many are not just getting beaten, they are not even finishing at all!

The Dublin racing festival was a fantastic innovation and I think that has certainly helped the Irish in accelerating the domination.

Who is the leading vet at the meeting ?. Does every trainer have a vet of their own or do some vets work their magic with a few trainers ?

The Irish and British handicappers have an impossible task. They can only rate what performances they see.

The barrage of criticism should be levelled at the Irish stewards. Far too many Irish horses race with the handbrake applied with a view to obtaining lenient marks.

That said, both sets of handicappers can be legitimately criticised for being too generous when it comes to assessing performances in graded races.

Horses with strings of 1s are winning and you claim the only reason they've won at Cheltenham is down to drugs. I dont think I'm the deluded one to be fair. Write to Paul Nicholls at all and ask them where all their entries are. Maybe that might help.

Just today alone , flooring porter beats cusp of carabelli by a half length in gowran , within 9 months he wins stayers hurdle by half the track . Mrs milliner beat in a shhit race in ballinrobe when fav , bolts in in the pertrmps . Mount Ida has a cup of tea at the first 6 fences , gets tailed off , and comes back to win in a canter . The shunter beaten in Tipperary in a maiden hurdle , wins in Downpatrick, bolts in today . The whole thing is farcical , but deep down people know what’s going on . Without doubt the game is starting to lose popularity, the English are entitled to be miffed . Are we supposed to believe that English trainers can’t train at all ?. A dog trainer won a race yesterday , what’s next ? It’s a pity the sharks 800 euro horse didn’t win , that would have topped off the week nicely

Cloone River - the "not really trying" is much more blatant in Irish jumps racing. Watch any maiden hurdle and the runners are strung out like washing immediately after "white flag raised". The sad reality is that if every jockey and trainer responsible for horses not running on their merits was ever properly sanctioned, jumps racing would cease to take place at all within a matter of days or weeks. All parties have a vested interest in the pretence that every horse is running on its merits.

The problem with the uk handicapper is that when a horse wins the handicapper thinks he warrants a rise in the handicap rather than he ran to his mark and others ran to there mark or below, the only way you can get a true mark is when you take on proven g1 horses.

The handicapper doesnt seem to take into account, the ground, the course or mistakes when making a rating.

A horse winning a top notch handicap and ends up on 155 rarely gets within it supposed rating in a top class race.
