Just ridden that last Winner at Dundalk (an Apprentices race)

Now ridden 17 Winners .... 2 and a half years on.

Wonder if he actually is related to old trainer 'Atty' Persse (who was of Irish descent) - Trainer of the 'Spotted Wonder/Spotted Grey' The Tetrarch - the flying 2-yr-old of just before the First World War, and subsequently successful Classic sire.

I can recall a conversation I had four decades back with a long lived racing veteran who was reminiscing with amusement over the period when he  worked for Atty Persse as a stable lad. The lights had to be out in the hostel by a certain time. The guvnor and a couple of senior staff, equipped with long toms, would check for compliance after lights and any of the lads still not in their bunks would get belted. Imagine that occurring nowadays !
