Since resuming from lockdown, there have been a freak number of 3-figure BSP winners in Ireland in both codes.
Never known anything like it, and that one just now is probably the freakiest

Unraced Dam has had 5 foals - who have had raced 77 times between them - with just 1 Winner ..,

Everything about the whole background was 1000.0, therefore.

I can't understand these suicidal lay prices. Who would lay a horse at 1000? You've only got to be unlucky once and you'll never get your money back. This is the second 1000 shot that I've actually seen come in, the first was Lady Heath a few months back. She was unraced and the latest shocker had raced once.
How do these layers KNOW (or rather, think they know) to lay a horse at 1000?
I see the same thing on football, where over six goals is sometimes laid at 200.

I assume it's what they feel they have to go to to win the money, not confident in getting involved earlier at lower prices when the race is more active.
I'd have thought the ideal scenario would be to fancy your chances at making a judgement without putting so much on the line everytime. I wouldn't have the bank to do it but would still contend myself with being a backer in any case.

can't imagine laying £233 at 1000/1 is too good for the blood pressure ... or the thought when it wins that you could have bought a house with what you just lost, for the sake of £200 ...

most 999/1 pre race should be more than 999 , so it's probably the best value long term bet on here
True. But the ones which genuinely should be 10,000/1 can be very hard to lay at 999/1.
The ones which turn out to have some sort of chance are often ones which, oddly enough, you can lay. See today's result.

According to my data from Jan 2013 to end July 2020, there have only been 3 999/1 winners at Betfair SP, and over 11,000 losers. Laying £2 on each would have returned over £15,000 at 5% commission.

in play, ended up just short 9k on race, layed 1400 11/4 ish
far too much in hindsight but there was a few seconds where it looked like the fav was sticking its neck out and was gonna kick on again and he knows no fear might not get up. Wasnt wanting to get nothing out of it, best sticking to glass half full and being happy with win though

The new way forward = chuck £2 darts on no-hopers and then sell back around trees..
If and when you can harness some clairvoyancy skills, it can pay even more as the darts can be increased to £13 or more..

You have been caught out before numerous times over the years where you have put up a 1.10 or whatever and its unplaced.
There was one just the other day!
It will also happen againmaybe in a few weeks or months.. who knows.
So the question is: How many times have you "lost" that 200k?

nice win yesterday JD - well spotted in the run. You have to stick cover up in that situation and sure you only have 1 or 2 seconds to type in a number - well done.
