Looks like they’re checking the ground for a bad patch, didn’t see the race, what exactly happened to the faller?
Report Charlton2005 August 3, 2020 3:41 PM BST
was too quick to see properly. like dick francis,  only on its side and much faster.
Report brians August 3, 2020 3:44 PM BST
Checking track to see if that was a factor. Jockey gone to hospital, they had to cut his boots off, it seems he was conscious and talking. Best wishes to him.

Report werbie August 3, 2020 4:06 PM BST
Maybe the underlay has rucked up a bit
Report Baker Boy August 3, 2020 4:11 PM BST
You might be right Werbie, the Reynolds family from Kings Lynn probably set up their Swingball tournament there last night and didn't repair the hole

Before the pandemic I mentioned the state of a lot of UK tracks(from what I could see on TV admittedly) due to what I assume is over racing. Patches everywhere, grass purposely left high to hide the fact, and many tracks developing Ripon dunes. A lot of these tracks need to be dug up and levelled off but it won't happen due to cost.
Report RothmanMike August 3, 2020 4:33 PM BST
Yes,but Weaver ain’t one of them.
Useless individual.

Yarmouth troubles continue after racing is abandoned at track

This article is more than 5 years old

• Fixture called-off after horse slipped and fell
• Course only reopened in August after repair work

Published on Wed 16 Sep 2015

Yarmouth racecourse, which resumed racing only last month after being out of action for nearly a year while the home straight was relaid, was forced to abandon its valuable card scheduled for Thursday after an incident in the fourth race at the track on Wednesday afternoon.

The remainder of Wednesday’s card was also abandoned after Passover and his jockey, Oisin Murphy, slipped up after crossing the line at the end of a 10-furlong handicap. Both horse and rider escaped unscathed.

Five horses appeared to suffer slips on the home turn at Yarmouth’s meeting on 30 August, the first since the straight was relaid at a cost of £300,000 to smooth out ridges on the racing surface.
However, there were no apparent incidents at the same spot during Wednesday’s truncated card, which opened on ground described as good-to-firm, firm in places but was then hit by heavy rain.

“I wasn’t questioned [by the stewards], but I think on safety grounds it’s the right decision,” Murphy said following the announcement that the card had been abandoned. “The ground was quite quick and with the rain they’ve had on top of it, it made it quite slippy and unfortunately my horse came down.

The decision to abandon racing on Thursday, the final card of Yarmouth’s three-day showpiece meeting, was taken following an inspection at 5pm. “The rain arrived at about 2.50pm,” Richard Aldous, the clerk of the course, said. “It became apparent after the fourth race there was an issue and we held an inquiry following which the meeting was abandoned on health and safety grounds.”

Jon Pullin, director of racing operations for ARC, which owns Yarmouth, added: “We’ve been to have a good look just to see what this rain has actually done and the impact of it. We’ve had over 10mm since 3pm already and having looked at the track our view is that we’re not going to be safe enough to guarantee racing [on Thursday].”

I can't believe shark would say anything just for the sake of it. Surely no previous in this direction?

When the COTC was interviewed I got the impression that he thought there wasn’t anything wrong with the track & maybe the jocks were being over cautious.
Report the dealer August 3, 2020 5:30 PM BST
he was quite poor with his interview of the COC. MacDonald had came on earlier and said they had found a hole, that may or may not have been caused by the fall. he then went on and said they had found other holes and patches of loose ground. the COC said they had walked parts of the course earlier, he was happy with the ground and it was the same as the last few meetings. he went on to say he didn't want to speculate about the hole they found, not saying it was or wasn't cause by the horse when it fell. Weaver at no time mentioned the other holes or loose ground which I found really strange and poor imo.

weavers hardly going to ask/mention holes when he,d quoted jocks and himself as describing the grtound as like a carpet,60 mins before the fall, and jocks passed on their praise to COC, WEAVER COULD HAVE SAID it was all time filler/lies,before interviewing COC
