     Awa' an bile yer heid
Translation: In English is "Away and boil your head". Means Get lost. Let’s face it, Glasgow has plenty of phrases telling you where to go. Like some others, this one implies that you’ve to go for talking nonsense – so much nonsense, in fact, that you’ve to boil your own head in shame for being so ridiculous.

I'm sorry kemo but I ain't wearing one either, went to the local shop earlier and didn't wear one

They told us 3 months ago they are useless and now they are trying to shame people into wearing them, making companies go compulsory on them etc

Fack off with all that after their previous dialogue

It ain't law to wear one and they can't force it and they know it, hence the carefully constructed wording of everything, which gives them plausible deniability in any court of law

"we only said it was guidelines we didn't say you had to wear one, if the companies made people wear them that's on them"

That only gets them so far, they have gone out of their way into manipulating society and all their careful wording can't change that

och aye and awa the noo,,,   a well know phrase in the very much second city of the country , ie glasgow , the best part of the city im told is the road out ,,,  or perhaps the many roads ,  The sad bit i suppose is the city for a few years had dragged itself up by its bootstraps , with lots of eurpean and uk gov cash ,  the hospitality world there was transformed ,  mind you boosted by the polish , the latvian , the spanish ,   This virus will devestate the place and it will go back like the rest of the country to the depopulation issues , Its really sad as huge swathes of the folks who were young and talanted like the immigrants are  voting with their feet and have gone home

Hear lies the problem with that wonder

My mum was having a go because I refused to wear one, only last week she wasn't wearing one ffs

So your own family members are trying to shame you into complying, its going to cause friction big time

The science ain't difficult

"A mask will stop the person wearing it from radiating the larger molecules of water that carry the virus when ever they speak, laugh, cough or even breathe. If everyone wears a mask then the virus has a much lower chance of infecting others"

It's that simple.

Not wearing a mask in an enclosed public place is irrefutable evidence of being a 100% selfish c---

You can take them off when eating ffs, this is the insanity of where we're at now

You have to wear them when ordering but take it off to eat Plain

So its taken them 3 months to issue this guideline (because that is what it is its not a rule) and then basically come up with some ridiculous concoction of said guideline, paying for stuff from 3 feet away nope have to wear a mask, sitting within 2 feet of others whilst eating yep you can take them off

No wonder they think society is facking stupid, and they get treated as such

One can only hope that people use more coherent logic to select their bets than when deciding that wearing masks is somehow a bad thing for society as a whole.

Face coverings or masks main function isnt about protecting yourself, its about trying to limit the spread of what you may have onto others. We may not as a society embrace it as other cultures do, but thats why they mainly wear them in Asia and elsewhere. Whether it works or not is another discussion, but as a society which wants to function surely we have a duty to do whats right no matter how small even if you disagree with government advice

Cant help thinking it would make more sense when this virus was actually around in decent quantities. Rather bizarre getting millions to wear masks when in plenty of areas there are virtually zero cases now.

Oh and people not wearing them may have genuine reasons not to so the post that claims that not wearing one is evidence that someone is 100% selfish is pure rubbish.

This justify's the disastrous lock down and all the other mindless knee jerk nonsense that goes along with it. If we are going to start this type of social behaviour then the next think is to reduce all speed limits on motorways to 40mph and no cars ever in town or city centres. Buses only unless your travel is urgent. I guarantee that will save more lives. Ban smoking tomorrow full stop. Ban the production of sugar, we just don't need it. I'm sure there are lots more examples out there.

If you truly wanted to protect the NHS (or reduce the cost of it) - you could ban alcohol.

Had the misfortune to attend A&E twice in my life (after darkness) - both times, I was the only sober person in there!

Would simultaneously solve the issue of police numbers required.

personally I don't think they make any difference......no need to read any further. -- well that's the problem isn't it. People get their education from headlines and never read (maybe they can't) any further. A sad reflection of our society.

You miss the point. This needs to be a collective response. The opinion of some bloke on a racing forum is not important. Upholding the law in an effort to help every single individual in our country is what matters.

Upholding the law in an effort to help every single individual in our country is what matters.  --- it that follow like sheep attitude that got us here in the first place. I posted a few months ago a link to a very comprehensive research project into the wearing of masks in which Neil Furguson himself was a joint author. The result was that their effectiveness was  at best marginal. There have been concerns raised by researchers that touching the mask frequently (which is a human habit difficult to stop) can spread any virus trapped there from coughing etc. If you cough/sneeze into a hanky and dispose of it properly as per age old flu guidance then you are not going to be continuously handling your coughed up mucus. Further if you are in a supermarket and want to cough you will probably think because you are wearing a mask it will be ok. Now imagine people going around supermarkets coughing into their mask and then putting back that tin of beans they decided they don't want!! There is very little evidence that this inhumane imposition (and people were quick to point that out with burkas)  will be of any use at all. Sorry I couldn't get all that on a 8 word headline.

Collective responses are awkward when people feel strongly on both sides and ultimately its nigh on impossible for it to enforced by the law.

The opinion of some bloke on a racing forum is not important.  ---  On that we agree. It's why forums are great places. It allows people to make an opinion and others to shoot it down with no harm done. We are just pixels. Those that get angry and abusive, let alone those that tell you they are cleverer than the rest of us are just pixels as well. The idea is you see opinions that may give you a different perspective. If the pixels are not determined enough to defend their opinion then it wasn't much of an opinion in the first place.

It also doesn`t help when random people are quite happy to claim that they know more than the scientists and are prepared to twist convoluted nonsense in an attempt to hide their self-centred attitudes.

there is nothing random about the people on this forum, they are all uniformly dodgy. I twist nothing, I posted Professor Neil Fergusons research. Your doing what all people with no argument do, attack the character of the person giving the opinion. On a forum like this that is as daft as it gets. What is the point of just keep repeating the headlines and calling people names? Post your evidence!!

4 months and still only 250k cases and 95% of them mild
