Is this the first time in history a British government has ordered the general public to wear something?
And face nappies of all things? Without a doubt the most incompetent government in the history of this nation, imo Not satisfied with taking away civil liberties and destroying the economy for a 'virus' that is of virtually zero risk to the healthy population, we now have the final humiliation |
|
By:
No, hang on, the final humiliation will be the mandatory vaccine
|

By:
it's a mask, george, you're not being castrated.
|
|
By:
there's no evidence the wearing of face nappies has saved a single life
|
|
By:
Scotland have been wearing them since last week
|
|
By:
If its so important why wait 10 days.
|
|
By:
You have to wear them when passing other people quickly in a supermarket but can sit in a pub or restaurant for hours without one ? Mad imo.
|
|
By:
are you advocating the wearing of masks in a pub george, with a funnel attached so they can pour your ale in? can't wait to see how a trip to kfc goes ....

By:
a few weeks ago when there was a shortage of ppe that they were saying there was no evidence that a mask helps, but now they have caught up on the supply they seem to be the new must have accessory for all public gatherings

To be fair 500 people a day are catching this thing and at least 1 of them might die ( the one who is 92 with cancer, heart disease and diabetes) so its well worth scaring the **** out of millions of idiots.

@ClarkeMicah · 8h In the name of Covid, the state has come between spouses at the point of death, practically abolished weddings and funerals, prevented millions from making a living, confined us to our homes. Now it tells us what to wear. Is there no point at which people will say 'enough' ? |

The poor sods behind the counter in Ladbrokes are going to be spending 10 hours a day inhaling a mixture of carbon dioxide and bacteria. There's going to be a hell of an epidemic of pleurisy.
The only consolation, I suppose, is that nobody will be there to see them taking the things off in order to breathe, I can't imagine there'll be any customers at all. Thursday 23rd will be the last day I enter a betting shop. Well, any shop at all, come to that. |

The only logical conclusion is that some businessman who donates millions to the Tories, has got stuck with a load of masks that he needs to be able to sell to turn a profit.
Neat Catch 22 though - I don't have a mask, but now I can't go into a shop to buy a mask unless I'm wearing a mask. |

So why do surgeons wear them during operations?
Big difference Dave between performing surgery via a deep open wound and going into One Stop to buy a loaf of bread. Hth. And I think those surgical masks are stringently regulated and of a specific design, not the 10 for a pound non-sterile face nappies that Bumbling Boris is ordering to you wear. |

My son went out last Saturday for the first time since March to say goodbye to fellow students going back to their own country.
He caught the tram and train. He said mask wearing was being enforced vigorously on the train ......however on the tram , no checks and very few wearing them. Most people are not wearing them in shops. This means they have decided the risk is not high enough and they would rather not wear them. The government , who of course do not live a real life, believe more will go to the shops. The thought of 100 + people in a supermarket all with masks on will stop me from going. I am sure I am not alone in choosing to buy all I can online rather than do this. The large shops will be ok , either you go or use them online. But this will kill small and independent shops. I remember about 15 years ago being told the reason we worked in towns and cities was to keep the shops alive..... I thought this was ludicrous then and we are using the same argument now. Imprisoning workers in offices so they have to pay expensive public transport or car parking and then buying a sandwich and coffee is the most bizarre business model I can imagine. |
|
By:
Why do I want to go into a shop? I've not been in one since early March as I've ordered all our food from Waitrose or Ocado and other things on line from makers,Ebay or Amazon.

WALOFS!!!!!
The spineless lemmings jumping over the cliff have got their way at last, now everyone has to look stupid and not just the politically correct do gooders. The world has gone stark staring mad in my opinion. The death rate is down, the infection rate is down, there's no evidence that a mask helps in any way and yet the government, having dug themselves in such a big hole over what is, in effect, a flu virus, have come up with this gem of a solution. |

During the government's latest coronavirus briefing, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer addressed questions about whether people in the UK should be wearing face masks.
Professor Jonathan Van Tam said he does not believe healthy people wearing them would reduce the spread of the disease in the UK, saying "what matters now is social distancing". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-52153145/coronavirus-we-do-not-recommend-face-masks-for-general-wearing The WHO were also saying for months that you only needed to wear one if you were in direct contact with a Covid patient. Why the change in policy when deaths and hospital admissions have fallen (funnily enough as they tend to do through the summer months in general)? |

Was in the local Hills yesterday,a young lad i know was working there so he came round for a chat and bumped into a guy i've known for years doing his bets before off to work, had a pleasant 5 mins with them and thought i'll do this more often and now this nonsense.

If you're vulnerable, or at risk or just plain thick as a plank, then you should be allowed to wear one but if you're amongst those who are perfectly fit, at low risk and you have at least one brain cell then you should be allowed the choice. All the evidence points to masks being no use whatsoever but the less than positive prime minister has to be seen to be doing something useful.
