The wealth of wisdom on this forum never ceases to astound me.

by June 1st the hysteria will almost certainly be over. the curve is flattening for the most part and in 2 weeks we've gone from pandemonium to a chink of light. if we were not desperate but determined may 1st could be feasible but june 1st definitely seems reasonable and it would be perhaps a missed opportunity if we delayed it any further than that. racing can be a pioneer in some ways for a return to normalcy. they can lead the way towards us getting back to a new normal
|

When I left work for the last time I put a note in my desk , stating when I expected to back in ....I put 1st June.
My colleagues said I was a pessimist and were still hoping to fly abroad in early May. I think I may been an optimist rather than a pessimist. |

lol its really hard to speculate, what happens in the next 2 weeks are key. they have to try and get the economy back at some time but they need a plan that will work. it would be a disaster if we got a second wave of it. 1st of June still unlikely imho
|

When i looked there was 50 matched on yes at evens and 50 matched at Evens on No!

unless the virus in this country is virtually eradicated then how is it possible to go back to some sort of normality?
the dealer 08 Apr 20 14:52 lol its really hard to speculate, what happens in the next 2 weeks are key. they have to try and get the economy back at some time but they need a plan that will work. it would be a disaster if we got a second wave of it. correct and that would be a certainty..wouldnt it? |

your talking 2 months away , and very hard to judge situation beyond a month of more social distancing tbh , may was easier as not that far away and still in range of curves
one possibility is on/off lockdown for a period on top of current lockdown as is possibility of diff areas which may make a meeting possible but if gov and scientists don't yet and they don't , know theres no point looking that far ahead at moment |
|
By:
Think the market is a bit awkward, would of been much better off 31st or sooner.
1st June must have the most likely chance day by day with it being a Monday. |
|
By:
I strongly believe yes but if it does, then I cannot understand the price on Ascot going ahead, given they have already said they would do it behind closed doors.

Schools will be back in by May.

watching gov pressers every day
the one thing i can confidently take from them is that they have no idea whats coming next further than next week or so and if they do its not good news if it was good news im sure we would know |
|
By:
They wouldn't want to release good news if they had it imo, certainly not a day before they had to.
Too many would just see the good news as an excuse to go out and about as normal from the moment they heard it and undo all the good work. They're keeping all the info under wraps, wise move either way tbf to them |
|
By:
Use of hotels at Lingfield and Newcastle to facilitate facing in quarantine as just advertised on Sky Sports Racing?
|
|
By:
you could also say the same about bad news, with no light at the end of the tunnel, especially on what would be a holiday weekend.
|
|
By:
Aye correct, I did. Either way!!
They will tell us what we need to know when we need to know it, it makes sense. They aint gonna say all will be well next monday or we're doomed for another 6 months etc, be drip fed daily |
|
By:
to be honest JD I just don't think the know what will happen or what to do. lockdown cant go on indefinitely but they cant afford another spike. they have to get it right though, nothing is going to change in the next couple of weeks, who knows after that
|
|
By:
Another spike is is acceptable the dealer, as long as we have increased our capacity by then to deal with it. That is all we can ever do until we have a vaccine.
|
|
By:
It's a tough one for them alright, dammed if they do dammed if they don't
"shdve got back to normal earlier" "shdve stayed locked down for another month" That's what they will be arguing about for years |
|
By:
who knows, but can they get people back to work and furlough them again down the line if another lockdown is needed. I cant see us being in a better position to deal with it in a few months time. not a decision I would want to make but we are no different from any other country with the state of the economy. I cant see many saying that another ten thousand deaths is worth getting people back to work though.
|
|
By:
Some are saying now that the collapse of the economy if this continues for much longer will kill more than the virus itself.
There's arguments for both sides. Agree, wouldnt like to be held responsible for they decisions |

as long as they don't give your mob the league JD I will be fine

well have came to the conclusion that Liverpool must get it, so with the same thinking it is very difficult to not give it to Celtic,

More chance racing starting 1st of May than them giving Celtic the league

new era is virus economy. No sports, no clubs, no cinemas. Work and dont speak, work at home, educate your childs yourself, no teachers, no medics. More money save. Vote online, algorithm(virus) choose who rule.

I think we've seen the last of sport as well
They'll be shutting horse racing tracks down, football stadiums will be bulldozed |

In the press conference today they were asked about the review coming up and the prospects about releasing the constraints and they all batted those questions away.
BUT At one point Stephen Powis was talking about the lock down measures generally and with some vigour I thought he perhaps gave away what was to come when he stated that it is imperative that we strictly keep to the social distancing measure at the moment. He didn't say it in the manner of someone that knew that the lock down would ease in the next few days. |
|
By:
They will not say the lock down will ease at any date in the future. They will tell us of any ease on the day it happens
Until then, we are all just guessing as to what and when anything will happen. |
