How many betting offices that closed due to the virus will never open again. Many shops were marginal profits and gives firms a easier decision.

All will reopen , all the big firms getting 80% for the wages. If they stay open long term thats another question.Alot of betting shop punters will realise how much they been spending in them.

end of lockdown is no instant fix

fear will remain in folks minds long after I would say , also financial shock to many will maybe change they way folk spend disposable income

Think you will find a massive reduction in betting firms high Street estates. Lots were earmarked to close anyway. Anyone who tells you otherwise are talking through their spout.

Send representatives round to older peoples door so they dont have to come out to the shops.

Close all the shops.

A bit like Ringtons but instead of receiving tea and biscuits you get a both teams to score coupon and a black and white card of the daily runners.

problem is opening lockdown with no testing /data

would you go in a pub , shop , restaurant if you felt you could still catch it

if you knew area had 60/70% recovery it would be very diff story

they have a plan, which includes all shops being deep cleaned

Most of the shops with marginal profit/loss have closed already or are trading until their leases expire so imminent closures were inevitable before the virus. Whether punters go back to the shops or not after having a sabbatical is a very good point and one that I hadn't really considered; personally I think that some who have been able to work during lockdown will have a hell of a lot of disposable income burning a whole in their pocket as they haven't been able to spend it, either down the bookies, on their kids, down the pub or gym, meals out etc; but others may decide after three months of enforced exclusion they have changed their habits and routines and can easily live without it; who knows really!

My gut instinct makes me think they'll be alright, but I might be wrong.

people will soon be back to there old ways when the restrictions are lifted

Does anyone really give a fcuk if half of them close?

The only people I sympathise with are the ones who'll be out of a job...not some shíthouse arcade & amusement engineer/technician who point blank refuses to offer any fair terms - it's endemic throughout the rotten industry, highlighted in spades at the Cheltenham Festival and before that, last year's Royal Ascot, where they ALL (the first time I've ever seen it) paid 1/5 odds. Utter cowards - fcuk 'em! Angry

As you can tell...I sit on the fence as regards bookmakers (a trades & standards misnomer) and struggle to get my point across - the game's up for the bástards...the golden goose has been fcuked in trap 2 for so long, I'd even welcome a Tote monopoly out of spite!

Absolutely well said apart from the tote, ideally just exchange -5-10% is fine

It was said that when this virus has gone, there will be a recession like the 1920,.If thats the case ,betting shops will be flying .Just think of the betting shops in deprived areas they are usually the busiest.Bookmakers shares have risen sharply over recent days

Do you not think this break....

Give them the ideal opportunity to review accounts and unblock a few "marginal" restriction calls...loads of sport backend of the year... take some effing bets?
