Hi, I've just bought a large screen monitor (43 inch) so that I wouldn't have to scroll down through long lists of selections for races.  However it doesn't seem to work.  If I make a really long window using chrome, then select the market I'm after, it doesn't display all the selections and it doesn't even offer a scroll bar.  Any suggestions how to fix this?  Cheers

Take a screenshot and post it here so we can see what is happening?

Big screens work as expected for me using Chrome on Windows.
Report pablo-fanque February 19, 2020 4:06 PM GMT
it might be due to what resolution you have it set at

resolution is at 3840 x 2160 (recommended).  Ctr and scroll and zoom don't work.  If I make the window shorter, the scroll bar comes back, and if a scroll just a little, and then increase the length of the window back to the original full length, all the selections appear.  I don't want to have to this every time I switch between markets.  There seems to be no problem displaying the selections on the open bets tab, its just the selections window with the odds. ??

Trial different resolutions - they make a difference. Does it double up as a TV? If so, maybe adjust screen ratio.

take it back,
get a 55' one.

Try Ctrl and Minus together
Report revs February 19, 2020 4:58 PM GMT
ctrl and minus just makes the screen smaller

Did u move through all the other resolutions? 1920x1080, 1280x720 etc.. also with diff scales and layout?
Report revs February 19, 2020 5:25 PM GMT

Have you tried displaying on Edge? or another browser besides Chrome?
Report hectoratoratora February 19, 2020 9:09 PM GMT
Have you been able to use the monitor at EXACTLY its native resolution?

try portrait mode

If he's tried that already, and different browsers, and changed all the settings on the device..and the display of the site isn't changing, it's possible the site is limited in how it's displayed on larger scales. Maybe there's some sort of extension that can force the site to match what's requested?

That pic that was posted is a little confusing..the way the window is narrow and minimized to the centre of the large screen Confused

From @revs' 16:28 post -- If I make the window shorter, the scroll bar comes back, and if a scroll just a little, and then increase the length of the window back to the original full length, all the selections appear.

Taking that description together with the screenshot (with Betfair blurb at the bottom of the page) suggests it might be a Betfair javascript problem with the space for runners/prices being wrongly calculated. You could try asking the Betfair helpdesk. It could also be confusion between chrome and Windows about resolution but other browsers are the same so that is less likely.

I'd also try clearing the browser cache and turning off any magnification on the browser.

On display resolution (Windows 10) what do you have for "change the size of text, apps and other items"? Try setting to 100 per cent (if it is something else). Remember to make a note of any settings you change and what they were before.

Is the refresh rate (60Hz or 75Hz or whatever) correctly set for the new monitor?

Did the monitor come with its own display software? And what version of Windows are you running?

If I "make a really long window using chrome" the bar lengthens to almost the entire length of the selections - is it possible that your window takes this to the extreme?  Does your mouse have a scrolling wheel?  If so what happens when you scroll over the selections?
Report revs February 20, 2020 3:34 PM GMT
I chatted to betfair this morning but after suggesting clearing cache, browsing and changing browser, they couldn't come up with any more suggestions.  Different markets use different amounts of space in the selection box but it always shows the max of 25 selections and can only be increased by resizing (smaller), scrolling, then resizing (bigger) again.  There is no magnification and changing font sizes doesn't make a difference.  Refresh rate is correct at 60Hz.  I'm using windows 10.  Scrolling over selections with mouse doesn't work.

Its got to be a betfair issue as the open bets tab fills the window entirely (all the way to the bottom of screen) and features a scrollbar if needed.

Does it make a difference if, instead of manually expanding the browser, you snap the browser to full height? (Windows button + shift + up arrow)

I've seen some nice setups where such beastly screens are attached to panels that can be insta swivelled to vertical position to allow portrait mode. I'm guessing you have no desire to use yours in portrait?

Laugh It clearly has its uses in certain circs(like how you were wanting to view that loooooong list in the golf market, if the bitch would work properly and fill the damn screen Angry) but I wouldn't like to be using it as a standard position. But the problem re your main issue is websites are naturally being optimized for what is a standard size/res. Your monitor is beyond the norm. And we can hardly expect betfair(of all sites) to go out of their way to ensure compatibility with larger screens.

As a matter of comparison how do other sites work with an internal section that scrolls down eg the forum itself?

Try running sfc /scannow from the start this might fix it
