I wish they'd stand up for racing ffs, its the best sport in the world for me personally and seeing that filth saddens me The BBC will be harking on about animal rights in a few weeks though, even though these animals 99% of the time absolutely love to race, but we wont hear a peep about this type of going on in the smaller weekday meetings |

Have you noticed the gambling commision refuse to address that winners are ALL banned or reduced to £0.50p stakes which is the same thing.
Gambling companies are not gambling at all and are a risk free business for the mostpart. |

Racing TV unbelievable - prattling on about tweedy woman winning 1986 Foxhunters; Dont they realise vast majority of viewers are punters who are sickened by the Juvenile Hurdle. Are there any of the pundits who'd deign to represent punters rather than slurp their own gravy?

An enquiry was held to consider whether the winner, BOLT N BROWN, had acquired an advantage by being allowed an easy lead by the other runners. Charlie Hammond, the rider of OPERATIC EXPORT (IRE), placed second, Harry Skelton, the rider of GILKA (FR), placed third, Tom Cannon, the rider of TRONADA, placed fourth, Barry Geraghty, the rider of GELBOE DE CHANAY (FR), placed fifth, Sam Twiston-Davies, the rider of RED ARCHANGEL (IRE), placed sixth, Harry Cobden, the rider of DORAH, placed seventh, and Lee Edwards, the rider of STORM GIRL, placed eighth, were interviewed and shown recordings of the race. Their explanation that BOLT N BROWN had only got away from them in the back straight when that filly appeared to be running very freely and as they were on largely inexperienced horses, with some of them making their hurdling debuts, they all felt that it would not have helped their chances to set off after the leader at that stage of the race, was noted.

Sixtwosix - events where a front runner has been given too much rope have been happening for many years. Why has this one incident pushed you over the edge. About 30 years ago I remember a 3 horse race - 10/11 each of two and any price the rag. The rag bolted off and the other two jockeys set about how to beat each other no doubt thinking the rag would fall in a hole! It didn't (or at least not enough) and won by about a furlong!
You have to remember that 99.9% of the time a horse goes off well in front it comes back to the field and is well beaten. If you are the jockey on a fancied horse, if you chase the front runner you are in danger of using your mounts energy up and are in danger of getting caught by the pack who have kept out of the pace duel. You want the other jockeys to do that for you. This can become a collective mindset where everyone else waits for someone to take on the front runner. I am not saying it is right or professional but I can see why it happens. They say the great jockeys have clocks in their heads and maybe they do but on bad ground who can really know whether that front runner has gone off too fast? |
