Not one FAV at the AW tonight...

We don't all back favs, stewarty.

I know sparrow but the AW has the worst stats for FAV's.

Are you sure about those stats?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nothing more than extended dog tracks. 1.01 every book made a profit tonight.

If you include Newcastle the other day and Wolves today 1 fav out of 18 I believe. The Anorak would be the most reliable re: stats.

Each to their own I think stewarty. I will only be bothering with one meeting tomorrow and that will be Southwell.

** Not much maidens on the AW and of course no novice hurdles and chases. (the one's the bookies dislike)

plenty decent horses made their debut on the all weather, enable and all. dont see many trainers boycotting any of the surfaces. prize money on par or better than plenty of the turf meetings. far from extended dog tracks imho

yes there is plenty of crap betting shop fodder meetings but there are plenty of the same type on the turf as well.

stewarty, I don't even look at jump races anymore let alone punt on them.

Exactly sparrow, but in a ten runner for example I'd rather be slowly away at York than Wolverhampton.

don't have the stats for favs but I would be astounded if the % maidens throughout the year isn't on par with the turf season

dealer, it's a fact more FAV's win maidens, novice hurdles/chases. But the prices reflect this.

you said there wasn't as much maidens on the all weather, I will be astounded if that is the case

Eight races......seven handicaps. Come racing. I would lay every FAV tonight but got company. Will look in later although impossible to tell unless there are six out of eight.

Should be more books than usual...

If you can point them out I'll gladly have a look.

you need to look at the figures for the whole fixture list, pulling one or two examples is hardly proof. I still stand by my statement there are as many maidens on all weather cards as there is on turf cards.

Now look how many maidens there are at Kempton.

there was 3 or 4 at Kempton the other night as well but like i said sparrow it has to be a % wise over the whole fixture list.

maybe i'm wrong and will happily admit i was but not based on 2 or 3 hand plucked examples

The only place I know of that has equal or more non handicaps to the best of my knowledge is courses in Ireland.

That said it's not unusual to see 140% overround books in Ireland.

yes sparrow, less fixtures though and too many horses to fit them all in.
