The Betfair Customer Service is at best unsatisfactory and lamentable is probably much nearer the mark. I have paid them a third of a million pounds in comission over the years and today had my account suspended.

Having asked their CS team their motive behind this I was informed it was a 'security reason'. They refuse to give me any more informaton other than that and was told that when they were ready they would contact me.

I have never layed any of my horses, nor tried to avoid their despicable Premium Charge and now find myself unable to use my account or withdraw any or my own money, without any reasoning behind this.

Their email address displayed on the locked out account page 'info@betfair.com' sends your email back saying it can't be delivered while the 0844 number only puts you through to the customer service team who then tell you what you already know.

Somewhat surprised that you have not been offered an Account Manager.

To be fair to them, is it possible that someone else has tried to log into your account and they have suspended it while they make enquiries?
Do you use 2 step authentication?

I understand that may be a possible reason behind this but I think I deserve to know without being left not knowing anything. I haven't used the two step authentication before.

Will probably be a security thing as stew says, but the communication can be minimal some times.

This happened to me last year, I noticed there was a problem when I couldn't place bets, I logged out and when I tried to log back in it said my account was locked/suspended.

It was vv annoying but didn't take as long to sort as I thought it might.

You'll prob get an email tonight saying you need to complete a kyc check. I sent a picture of the card I have linked to the account, a pic of my driving licence and a screenshot of my bank account, the next morning my account was unlocked.

It's possible that someone has gotten into your e-mail account and are trying to log on to betfair as you, and so betfair are being careful that you are you!
If you are a big better and do keep large sums in your account, then you should use 2 step authentication.

^I'd guess that is a source of funds issue. Was he a winner or a loser? If the former he can surely say source of funds irrelevant and if the latter prob better off.

They finally got back to me with a request of proof of identity being the reason. This after 15 years with an account and making numerous withdrawls and deposits in that time.

So he was avoiding premium charge? (Or that's what BF believe.)

Yep happened to me when I had a winner and couldn't withdraw funds account suspended. We are talking £600 so money laundering not an issue. They wanted photo of DL/Passport etc. I bypassed CS and got the email address of top brass. Eventually sorted with a £50 compensation free bet. This MO is adopted throughout the industry.

@Sawley

If you have the amounts of money in your account that the amount of commission you have paid implies, I would take a very serious look at 2FA.
