It sounds like the reason for the meeting being lost , wasn't the weather , but a lack of flood management . I've never been to the course , but I imagine a higher flood bank/wall would have prevented the abandonment today .

My horse was running in the last race, had I known there was a risk of the meeting being abandoned, both my horse and I could have postponed our travel to much later.
Consequently loads of money lost for nothing because the CoC could not give prior warning of flood risk!

The food and drinks outlets would have been doing business before the 1200 call. What happens to all that grub? They would have insurance in place but surely with them all doing some business it would be no where near full compensation.
