Having watched him over the years, I just get the impression that he is not as effective as Mullins Number 1 jockey as he was when he was the Number 2 to Ruby Walsh. Looks to me that the pressure of this job is too big for him. Mullins is loyal but his owners need winners. Compared to the jock's riding for Gordon Elliott, Townend needs better results. I was a huge fan for years, but I'm wary now.....................perhaps it only emphasises how good Ruby Walsh was.

Mullins has nowhere near the ammunition he had in recent years with Ruby/Ricci & on top of the O'Learys moving horses across to Elliott.

I mean we have this every week on here even when Mccoy/Ruby were riding people would find a way to pick holes.

Are there any rides in particular you'd be pointing to?
