The Betfair race is a good shout.
The CH run on good ground for a horse that may prefer softer ground less so?

I thought it’s action was a bit scooty.
Suggests better on quicker ground to me.

I thought about Make A Stand but that horse's hurdling was in a different league.
As the jockey said he jumped the last two well but was very iffy down the back.
The way he tanked clear in the straight was very impressive.
It would be interesting to see what he would do in a Champion Hurdle trial, something like the Kingwell, but seems unlikely to go that route.

I thought exactly the same as Casemoney. Reminded me so much of make a stand especially in the later part of the race.
Only a small horse but seems to have got the message now about this hurdling lark ( even though he stills looks a tad quirky ).
We need to remember he has only raced 5 times over the said hurdles and he is now appears to be improving rapidly.
Noticeable aspects from yesterdays performance were as follows :
* How he tanked and pulled hard going uphill for the first few furlongs / flights of the race.
* How well he settled going away from the stands and going downhill.
* The manner in which he never faulted at all when joined and briefly headed mid race.
* The gear change he showed to totally run away from the others in home straight
* How fast and accurate his hurdling was over the last two hurdles
* How much energy he had left after the race as despite being eased down considerably JB took an age to pull him up after the line.
* A mid 100s flat horse yesteryear he has decent form at tracks as tricky as Epsom and Chester so i cannot believe that Cheltenham would be an issue and any ground would be ok as it will always be good to soft at best on race day such is the protocol
66/1 for a wide open CH may seem a tad speculative for a horse that has just won a handicap off 127 however in that form another stone + would have made no earthy difference ( assumption ) and if he leaps forward again on his next outing then maybe he becomes even more interesting as this was by some way the most exciting hurdling performance of the season thus far.

I agree with the above.
After a bit of reflection I backed him last night and managed to get a little better than 66/1.
If he copes with going left handed on a stiffer track and they actually train him to win a Champion Hurdle rather than a Newbury handicap then 66/1 is much too big. In a year with no outstanding contender I don't think class is such an issue.
Many of those at shorter prices are used to pottering around in small fields. Would they cope with a totally different scenario?
I think Ladbrokes are far closer to the mark with their 25/1.

Really eye catching, always interested when decent predominantly flat yards have a hurdler,Ian Balding always had a few,Michael Stoute,,Fanshawe used to have a few including Chasers. ALWAYS worth a look
carrying 11-10 in the champion hurdle for such a small looking horse might take some doing,especially if soft going
thats why you need the big numbers . A long way to go but at i type it does not look the strongest of events . Time can change that mind
what was the name of the cheverly park horse,that was primarily a flat horse that was fancied for a championship race at cheltenham;seemed to have a similar profile.was only a couple of years ago.
wouldn't get on the 6th horse box out of hendersons yard with ch hurdle possibles on board

Pentland Hills who stopped to nothing on his return and represents the second season juveniles who have a very poor record. Fusil Raffles who also represents that division has very questionable form relative to his price and has been kept to speed tracks. Epatante was the biggest 'bomb' at last year's Festival. She has a ton to prove both on form and ability to handle the track. Call Me Lord fell over the line beating Ballyandy. That form is nowhere near good enough. Verdana Blue has already shown she isn't good enough in a Champion Hurdle.
