Started with Dave Clinton at Billy Hills in 72, was a real nice bloke and a fantastic clerk/settler for those that don't know the terminology, became an area manager but was still a decent fella.
Remember did an odd day for him around the midland tracks, i was pretty good but he was like lightning fast. Think he may have started at Ted Currigans with Tony Fry, not sure.
Went to Worcester one day about Sept 07 and someone else was running his pitch, approached this fairly young lad and said "where's Dave", fella was his son and told me Dave had died! Must have been really quite young, late 40s maybe, great shame. Worked for Lenny De Costa a few times when he was short of a body, again nice fella, rough and ready, think his lad took over from him as well.
Micky Blount was the fastest clerk around these parts and a very knowledgeable form man as well, sure he told me he did something with Copes guides as well.
Great Days, also helped Lenny Boden and Gary Partridge as well but Rocky usually had that gig, helped out at the dogs usually.

They had to be lightning quick at the dogs, stewarts. My father was a clerk for most of his life and White City would command massive crowds in his day.

The crowd at White City for the 1939 Greyhound Derby was estimated at 92,000! My father would have been working there that day.
