It is farcical when they take out a final line of fences. It just becomes a flat race. Frodon probably wasn't at his best but had no chance.

They could run the race earlier and/or start the whole meeting earlier.

clearly nowt that could've been done to make the main race of the not the farce it was...

i'm 100% sure AINTREE will learn their lesson and the farce won't happen again next year...

it is open to abuse as well. Nearly every professional sportsman is prone to gamesmanship ("cheating" in our language). What is to stop a jockey on a rubbish jumper complaining about (marginal)low sun to gain an advantage over a solid jumping rival. I have never known an occasion when either the racecourse or a fellow jockey objects to the request to remove fences. In these litigious days, nobody would want it down to them. Effectively a request from one jockey is probably enough to guarantee fences being omitted. You may be tempted for a £45k pot. That is why these races ought to be run earlier.

i wonder if some bright spark at AINTREE might consider switching the bumper and the ORC timewise next year...???
