I know, wrong forum but thought I would share my 'Man on the Spot's' thoughts on this match which is live on Freeview 9 tonight. He's up to speed with the Highland league and although Buckie Thistle are top of their league he thinks home advantage will tell. Although there is no liquidity on here at present I've manage to get a few bob Bonnyrigg at average odds of 6/4. gl/ to one and all who can be bothered.

Another old memory. I once went to a Scottish Junior Cup (probably semi final ) at Easter Road between Bonnyrig  and Linlithgow. The attraction was Colin Grant who Hibs were going to sign from Bonnyrigg as he had been getting great write ups. He was good and a classy player. However the rather ungainly Colin Stein was the star of the match and also signed for Hibs.
I was the only Hibs supporter in the family and I used to say that I was born a Hibee as I came into the world at 5pm on a September Saturday the day that traditionally had the local Derby. My father maintained that he could not remember if they had played that day. Come the computer age and I was able to learn that Hibs had beaten Hearts 2 - 0 that day.

Some sad memories about Colin Stein. Some still think he was 'responsible' for the Ibrox disaster when nothing could be further from the truth. He did score a last gap equaliser for Rangers on that fateful day but it had nothing whatsoever to do with what happened next.

Stewarty B,I can tell you a very good story re-Bonnyrigg.Sean Connery when at school was a good player,he could have played pro had he stuck at it.He and somebody I was related to worked the same milk round went their own way,the relative went on to play pro and one of the most respected Left backs in the history of pro football.

You won't find that in the Bonnyrigg history i.e Left back, one of his daughters Godfathers is Sir ........?

There's actually been quite an interesting development regarding toby and this forum, cuz it's become quite noticeable that despite toby's best efforts, a certain forumite appears to have decided to just totally blank him.

I'm not going to name the forumite, but I'm sure people will know to whom I'm referring (clue: ol' tobyjug  invites him to lunch but the said forumite doesn't even reply, continuing to post on the thread as if the invite never happened).

And I can see GT has been 'wounded' by this, cuz the forumite's name has started to appear in his vitriolic posts.

Hi Hibby, always good to see a good un post. I made the mistake last weekend of having eight fancies, (football and horses). tbh I'm more a horseracing punter although my Ayr Utd bet is not going well with sixty minutes to go tonight.

That aside I do fancy a few this weekend albeit less selections. If I fancy one or a double I will put it up on this thread. GL for the weekend yourself.
Report stewarty b October 25, 2019 8:28 PM BST

Man Utd are garbage this season Hibby. I wont be involved but if I was I would lay them. No luck on tonight's football but still my Man on the Spot has a 50% record.

That aside Hibby do you fancy any horse tomorrow? If you do, don't name it on this thread but you could perhaps give me the race details. If so I will get my studying head on and if I fancy a beast in the same race I would PM you .....to see if we are on the same page if you catch my drift.

Stew did you see the thread I put up for you regarding Duncan Forbes? He was almost a lifelong family friend and was best mates with the player I mentioned earlier who played for Bonnyrig alonside Sean and neither of whom get an acknowledgement in the Hall of fame for games played although Sean is mentioned.

Another player you may be interested in hearing about still lives in your neck of the woods I believe,Big Doug Rougvie? I played alongside Dougie before I joined the army and remember one game where he caught a player accidentaly and the young lads eye came out of its socked and lay on his upper cheek.

Dougie walked away and did not even flinch although I dont think he even realised what had happened,I also played a few games alongside Paul Sturrock who was the opposite of Dougie. So you see not my whole life was spent in uniform,I was actually quite normal beforehand if going against what everyone expected of me,my little dig the other evening was well intended btw and I hope you did not take offence?

I do not have the level of interest I used to have in football, even the Internationals are just a passing interest but I do have a punt now and again so always have a look at threads like this which can be a big help if considering a bet.All I can offer in return is a lowdown on my team Cagliari and their opposition if you ever consider a punt away from home.

GL as always.

No worries stew,I just mentioned siding with Kemo so no damage done to either of us hopefully.Hello you might relate to this then (not the circumstances btw, just the subject)

Getting on for 30 years ago I did a job most would shun if they had any common sense.I went undercover and had to go through the whole process of Court, guilty, sentenced and then HMP.That was almost blown apart by a PO who recognised me from the forces "Hello what are you doing here".............FOYDC went through my mind but too late somebody overheard.

What saved the op was a guy who commented on my accent,he was tatooed all over with Rangers logos and Chelsea insignia, when I told him about my association with Dougie everything got back on track and ended well.

He doesn't know when the odds are in his favour. His MO is going to the shops and backing favs at SP.

My point was, that if some expert publishes a tip, then everyone knows about it and it obviously can't be value. The same as gambling related books, blogs, whatever. It might help you to improve but it won't help you turn a profit in the long run.
