Hi guys Im looking for a new home for my old form books Does anybody know of old bookshops etc that specialise in Racing esp in the North preferably North Yorkshire
Maybe I should set up a stand at York Races next week
Tried to sell mine on ebay,...nobody wants them, due to lack of space when moving house they ended up in bin...
I had every Racing Post from day one till 2006 stacked in (year) piles in garage...all went in a skip(kept first issue)...
Still mourn my loss...like losing a good friend...
I rang a few places...nobody wants them..Barter Books in Alnwick would have took them,..but they only give you vouchers for more books!.....
What a sad end for these gems of racing lore...look this ones got ARKLE in..and there,..thats SHERGAR........
i'm sure somebody will have them,i'm sure somebody Should have them,..but don't expect much...

Thanks for the reality check lads not much hope there I was just hoping it wasnt true
some common ground there tons of sobs The space they would occupy is more valuable than they are - also downsizing so many recorded memories, everythings fading not just the print still the grand kids can provide some new refreshing ones

Same here. Had to throw away decades' worth of racing papers including most Posts and every Weekender when I moved. Still have several shelves of Pacemaker. Realistically, I'm never going to read them (or any of my non-racing books) and no-one else would want them.

Stewpot. I put up a similar offer earlier this year contacted RP and some bookshops. I had no response. I have had regrets about dumping my collection so beware. However I did keep some of the earlier years as the notebooks were much smaller than later years.

I know Eddie Fremantle binned a load of incredibly dog-eared, grubby, scribbled-on form books when he moved a couple of years ago, and he doesn't regret it. I do, though. That's our shared history there, all those hours together on the trains going to and fro to the courses, thumbing through multiple volumes of Raceform and Chaseform.
No way are mine ever going to go. If there's anyone around with an interest in burying me when the time comes, I hope they chuck the annuals and the binders in with me, like a Saxon king's burial.

dont throw= them out stew someone somewhere will want either one some or all of them , try ebay but be sensible with prices and just put one or 2 on at first and see what response you get ,if there is interest then trickle them on in 3s and 4s .the older timeforms should go i had some from the 1960s and they sold reasonably well .

Foyles, as you said that was some time back. 1960s TF don't get more than £15 in prime condition nowadays. 1980s TF's going for £1 each. The raceform/chaseform etc are worth zero. Costs £3 to post if you're lucky and maybe £6 depending on weight. And they're selling for £2.99 including postage on ebay. You do the math! And the final nail in the coffin for those form books is that no one wants them and there are plenty to go around.

charlton i sold mine around 8-10 years ago charlton ,may be as you say interest has declined and seems no fooka goes on ebay anymore ! off topic subject wise but a few months back i bought a jimi hendrix original painting in oil from the early 1970s from a carboot sale ,the woman who was selling it said it was her mums who was at the isle of wight concert and a hippie was painting the rock stars of the time for a few quid spending money on anything that was available , mine is on hardboard ,i wonder if its worth anything ? its very well done .

anything from the 60s is worth money. I would advertise on ebay just as you have described it here. put it on for £1000 and invite offers. it will go to the US for a few hundred. gl

Have had mine in a box for years - from 1980 to ready to go but can't be bothered to weigh them at a post office (local post office closed down)
Used to be a second hand bookshop in the town but that went a few years ago.
also The Sporting Life 1982, Trainers record 1984, and other books purchased from raceform.

Had a collection of old form books and tried to sell them on ebay but no offers, Raceform loose leaf form books 70's 80's 90's, Timeform Black Books, Timeform Computer Time Figures etc. Hardly anyone wants them now, old book shop took some of them but didn't get much.
Currently on ebay there is 18 TimeForm horse racing annuals various - flat and jump - £35 the lot. Ends tomorrow, no offers at all so far, no value now really, might be lucky to find a collector who may be interested, but generally nobody wants 'em now.

Just to let you guys know you were very much right in your conclusions despite the books being much more reliable than me and in much better condition than me we are both virtually worthless and now heading for the tip
Thanks for the responses and apologies to those who I couldnt respond to
