changed my phone a week ago to giffgaff. happy so far. have not the time nor energy to go into the problems we have had with them on broadband and other phone accounts. systems and customer support are 15 years out of date. never been as frustrated with anything, ever.

Worst customer service in England - lost days of my life on the phone and even in store. Cancelled all contracts with them, moved to 3 and ....touch wood.

Although Revolut which are fantastic for forex on a small scale, take the biscuit, been 5 days on a chat with customer support and several times just cut-off after several hours of talk/waiting. Keep it small and revolut are fantastic but start transferring large amounts and you are classed as a money launderer, even when you show proof of funds.

I think it is the same with nearly all companies. Customer service stinks - outsourced, poor knowledge of products, poor control of the language and following some noddy manual add to that the robots that start all the calls and it is no wonder there is no satisfaction.

You just have to hope you never need to call.

I moved from Voda to Virgin a couple of years ago, entirely happy with them.

hope it continues as you will find it very difficult to terminate your business with them.

problem is if there was a company out there that had good CS but was bit more expensive as a result, it would go bust, cos most people's main criteria is price

well Vodafone have gone from 230p a share to 148p a share in the year or two since they launched cheaper than the rest broadband and I am guessing that is because they are losing a lot of phone customers who are not happy with the broadband CS (like myself, 17 years with Vodafone and now leaving cos of broadband CS)

****. But just the same as the rest. They're too big to give a damn about individual customers.

" you will find it very difficult to terminate your business with them."

I have no intention of doing so, but intrigued to know why you think it might be a problem?

My experience a couple of years ago: they haven't got an email address to cancel, the line to cancel is permanently unavailable and when you send them a letter to cancel they ignore it and when you complain to oftel they still won't do so, just amending your contract to pay as you go.

Thanks dave1357.

That shouldn't be an issue any more with any provider.

Since last month, Ofcom rules mean you can terminate your contract and/or port your number by sending a codeword text message and it has to be handled by an automated system at the provider.
