Spencer’s waiting race on Raheen House like so many times he has done a and why he is useless,He has got a certain winner beat with his waiting tactics that has gone wrong,He is so overated a d I do not understand why trainers employ him.
as said you know what you are getting ! cant complain if ya back him on anything ..............so 1 dimensional dont know why he does it every time .as you say cant seem to grasp you need to give the horse a chance .

absolutely murdered those inside him leaving stalls...what happened to riding to your draw for 100 yds? should get days for that
'did very well to get across from his wide draw'absolutely murdered those inside him leaving stalls...what happened to riding to your draw for 100 yds? should get days for that
That looked dangerous riding, I think 5 days would be lenient. Imagine a claimer doing that would get a fortnight. And his a senior jockey so be interesting to see the outcome.

Bha reported Leaving the stalls, SETTING SAIL, placed second, jumped left crowding FRANCIS XAVIER (IRE), unplaced, for room and causing the rider of MORDIN (IRE), unplaced, to briefly take back but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved, and it had not improved the placing of SETTING SAIL

Just watched the recording of Raheen House race, Spencer had RH in last 1 length behind Red Verdon 11fs out and still a length behind that horse turning into the straight. 1st 3 were the last 3 turning in, Spencer elected to go for the near side rail, Red Verdon ran up behind the 2 leaders and luckily got a gap inside them. All 3 had a clear run inside the final 2 furlongs and Red Verdon and Gold Mount proved to just outbattle Spencers horse who had every chance but couldn't quicken past, Spencer gave it every chance if good enough.

markwin - some fair points, but you must admit he does have an exaggerated hold up style that can be detrimental.
Fair point about backing his though, we all know it.

It did need to make a few lengths just to get level, after a usual 'spencer' start to the race if you look...

If a jockey could produce his horse so that it attains its absolute optimum performance on the line then that would be the most efficient way to ride the race. I think this is the point of Spencer's strategy.

its the best position at the back if you do it all the time you will never get pulled in as its a normal way of riding. it means they can get away with anything with no fear of ever getting into trouble a certain old jump jockey was a master at it . as pointed out you can afford to lose the odd winner he has as the bad rides far outweigh the good rides, it saves a fortune avoiding them all
