Insisting that a corporation comprising multiple entities should be referred to by a singular verb is pedantic  in the extreme, regardless of what some wizened old fogies may contend.

"Betfair are" ... "IBM are " ... "Apple are" .... all good IMO. Making their pronouns singular sounds clumsy and affected.
Report johngrace • March 13, 2019 7:18 AM GMT
Grammar is either right or wrong - it`s accuracy is not determined by factors such as someone thinking "all good IMO."
Report sageform • March 13, 2019 8:35 AM GMT
Yes thanks to place only bets. Four out of 6 came up and only one of them, Le Breuil, actually won. I was well down after the first 2 races due to ante post and win only bets so it took until the seventh to get into profit. I didn't have a bet on any of the other meetings.
Report muse • March 13, 2019 8:44 AM GMT
