I'd rather watch it on TV any old day of the week!

Well, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday anyway!

Wink

I paid £86 for Wednesday and £86 for Thursday for the club enclosure 3 weeks,

not going Friday but they wanted £108 I think, god knows what they are charging for Friday if you are booking it this week.

It's a rip off at those prices no doubt about it,
I wouldn't pay it, I got mine through the Rewards for racing.

Think the touts might have a problem getting rid of their tickets today, probably be £20 near the 1st race!

Amazing how it is one of the worst for actually seeing anything during the race, yet crowds go in hoards paying monster prices still...

I've been once, but not on a festival day, and still could barely see any of the race!

I used to go every day for many years but age has caught up with me. If you go you need some creature comforts. I had a share in a tent in the village so we could arrive at 12.00 or earlier, have somewhere to sit and chat and eat lunch before racing. If the weather was OK I still liked to watch from the lawn though. Getting from A to B could be a pain but there is nothing quite like it.

I went 1989 for the Mackeson, that was enough for me.

First went in 1978 for the second two days of three. I remember a horse called Flame Gun had won on the Tuesday and was down to run again which was most unusual.
Monksfield dethroned Night Nurse in the Champion Hurdle on the Wednesday, Sea Pigeon split the pair.
Timmie's Battle trained by the late Arthur Stephenson won the Foxhunter's Chase.
Next morning we woke up to a mountain of snow, the card was abandoned and run in April.
Rodman trained by Fred Winter, ridden by John Francome was turned over in the Triumph Hurdle won by Connaught Ranger but the same trainer/jockey combination had success in the Gold Cup with Midnight Court  who defeated the Irish hope Brown Lad.
Great times, fantastic racing, couldn't name a handful of runners today.

If you need to get away from Cheltenham in an hour you need to leave after the 5th. 3 hours used to be the norm to get to the M5 if you stayed for the last.
