Bumper horses are NOT allowed to run in more that 4 races - unless such additional races are Listed or higher status... which, admittedly does not answer your question - but because the Cheltenham (and Aintree/Punchestown) Bumpers are Group races would not debar them either, under that Rule.

There is a past example, that of Diamond Harry. He won the Doncaster Bloodstock sales bumper (i.e a race limited to horses bought at their sales) in consecutive years, 2007 and 2008. That wasn't a Listed or Graded race, so it confrms that you can run in bumpers for more than one season, but still with the four race limit.

There are some recent examples of runners in consecutive Cheltenham (Champion) bumpers.
Golantilla was third in 2013 and unplaced in 2014. Modus in 2014 and runner-up in 2015. Vigil in 2014 and 2015. Hat-tip: Raceform Interactive. |

Refinement and Rhythm Section have the best records for running twice in the Cheltenham bumper. Refinement ran 2nd and 4th in '04 and '05 (and all told, she ran in 7 bumpers in 2 seasons, finishing with a win in the Champion bumper at Punchestown). Rhythm Section won in '93, and was then 4th to Mucklemeg in '94, having not run in between.
