Wherever they run him now, he'll had to run off 72. Life will be more difficult for him now. Could be a good time to lay him next time as he'll have to run in a 0-70 and carry a big weight, or in 0-75 and higher. Impressive as he has been, will be much higher in weights now and against far stronger opposition.

Backed him every run,..letting him go today,his sire Lope De Vega only had one winner at Southwell,mind only had  18 rnrs...not a big enough sample,but it doesn't add confidence....

Hoping he wins also for obvious reasons. Not interested in backing him at odds on though he's clearly handicapped to win if he likes the surface. Hopefully those who do collect.

Think Baron Run is a massive price to beat it, and probably do Tum Tum as well, had less runs in past year than the Lion has had in past 2 months and could have more improvement to come.

The dam hated soft, based on that he should struggle - hammer gun really well weighted too

Agree with your sentiments BB damsire has decent record at Southwell and gives you hope he'll be okay,certainly the form he's in,but the dam had one runner at Southwell 0/2.

Got both of my selections placed, but really thought i'd got the 1-2 till he put the Hammer down, but a nice profit anyway. Run had to come to an end sooner or later but clearly didn't stay on the surface BB.

Not necessary the going,how on earth did the jockey think he could go flat out for a mile, was beat long before the going became an issue,and any decent trainer would know whether their horse would go on the surface.

Onlooker surely you know that the h'capper always puts horses up at least 27lbs after they've been btn 80 odd lengths in last on lto run?

admiral rooke was 1 of my many "cliff" horses when with dodds,hope he runs a big race for you tonight.

He's been largely disappointing but there was enough in his penultimate run to suggest he isn't a lost cause.

i thought he was a good buy for the money when i noticed he had gone to mick appleby.

imo best with a bit of cut in the ground on the turf, so definitely can win races of that current mark.

And Lion could have won 8 handicaps by now if those 2 engagements hadn't been cancelled. He was long odds-on fav for both.

There's a 10k bonus for the horse winning most AW races in the AW season. He also missed out on a race he would have been odds on for due to the flu virus suspension of racing, alun. He's joint top now so we have to try and win again or Matterhorn will beat him on countback (I think) or prize money.

Just realised Executive Force has also won six and is running in the next. Hopefully something beats him.

The people responsible for his placement this season are clearly idiots and fully deserving of your criticism, Raggetty. Plenty of milers / mile and a quarter flat horses get the 2m in a hurdle race - but sure Barton.... probably right. More wondering what you do with him when handicapper has a hold of him .... will happen eventually - I hope not for ages - he has been a superstar, that's for sure.

The plan when we bought Lion Hearted/Decoration of War and Admiral Rooke for Slipstream Racing was to run them through the AW/early turf and sell them at the sales in May. As things stand, he will therefore be on his way.

Nice job all round Barton. Hard enough to find a horse to win a race, let alone run up that kind of sequence.

Pretty sure nothing I have had a share in has won six in a season before. Had a couple that won five.

I think either of the other two would beat us on countback. Executive Force has nay chance in the Classic though surely. Matterhorn clearly does have a chance though the Gosden horse is going to take a hell of a lot of beating. We could have gone to Chelmsford tonight instead but we thought the horse and the trainer and staff had earned their crack at the big prize.

Are there any plans for a Turf campaign this summer BB ?

The horse is set to be sold along with Admiral Rooke and Decoration of War in May. Which was the policy decided upon when we set up the syndicate. Might have one run on turf or that might be it. Depends how he comes out of the race. I don't think Lingfield suited him as well as other tracks he's run on for all we also know the opposition was better as well.
