When they panned in before the race you could clearly see it was Hughes asking for those fences to be dolled off. 4 runners, hardly any fences, why the f@@@ would you ever bother going racing to Kelso?

When are the BHA going to get to grips with this issue rather than continuing to ignore it?

When I saw that Kelso has scheduled 2 CHASES, as the closing 2 races on today's card - when Low Sun should be an even bigger problem - I thought that beggars' belief.

It's not the low sun that's the real problem.
If you stand at the entrance of the straight and look towards the finishing line, it is half a mile uphill and on any sunny day it will be a problem. The sun can be at a normal height but will always be in the riders /horses line of vision. Not a problem if the track was flat. |

Was a race at Sandown this season where the Pond fence was bypassed due to low sun yet a loose horse which by its very nature must have some jumping flaws sailed over the fence without any apparent problem

we hear alot about what happens if THE SUN goes behind clouds during a race after fences ommitted,we never hear what happens if THE SUN comes out during a race when fences/hurdles are left in ?

kelso 2:20 - miss out the final hurdle...
kelso 2:50 - they jump the final hurdle... looked to me like the low sun was WORSE for the 2:50 than it was for the 2:20... i might be wrong tho. |
