Suzanne the Betfair Monkey who usually covers Lingfield was not on course today. I suspect that is why the market was not reopened. I do not know if they had a replacement on track.

None of the jockeys knew what had won.

something definitely happened to precipitate the suspension.  whatever it was also caused a massive swipe of ventriloquists odds just before the suspension, everything stolen down to 1.37   shafter seems to be getting very animated, posting photo finish prints etc which usually means he's dropped a packet and is considering contacting his MP about the official result

Maybe they suspended because they had no one on track and thought that after 3 minutes the result should have been called so suspended to be on the safe side?

if you find out the reason for the suspension you will find out why someone wanted to swipe a wodge on the eventual 2nd, because they heard something that led them to believe the 2nd had won, a couple of seconds before the suspend monkey heard it.

the suspension wasn't due to the result being announced, it was due to something else.  which is why the OP started the fred.   someone knew what that was before the suspend monkey knew.

the market had reacted, the winner was 2's on.  fair enough, it won.  but it went to 4.7 (last matched) one second before the suspension. 
and the second went 1.37

i've no idea why it was suspended, but it was about 3 minutes before they announced the result.  is that normal ??

hulk, judging from the time of the posts on this thread, it was more like 6 or 7 minutes at least

i came into the office 5min after the race while they were waiting for the result,i replayed it on atr and screenshotted the pic that i posted...imo 1 foot before the line then 2nd was inches in front..they went over the line together unsplittable imo..on the bha print the winner isnt shown in the mirror image..only the 2nd which has the white blaze...im not convinced the correct result was given.

the other day there were 2 photos at ling..non were opened,im not sure the had an ocr in attendance.

it took 12mins to call the result.

you couldn't split them but one second before the market was suspended someone was willing to go 4.7 the winner, which had previously been a solid 2's on shot.

On the ATR coverage, at 12.33.27, when they show the slow mo, it looked like Kirby's mount had dipped it's head at just the right time.

So regarding the betting flip flop, I think watching live people thought Storm Melody had got there, but the slow mo told a different story?

And I think the market suspended within seconds of that slow mo being shown.

im assuming the prices changed when atr showed the slo mo..while waiting for the result the lad beside me said when i came in,it looked like this side won live but on the slo mo i think ventro has won and had a monkey on.

fairly amazing coincidence that their 'opinion' played itself out on the market exactly one second before the suspend monkey hit the button.  i would say both actions were based on the same information, we don't know what that was.  But it would appear the information they received was complete bullsh!t.  Unfortunately

the other day there was a close finish...within secs they were betting 1.5 and 2.8 ish..i put frame by frame on live on atr on line as i do ev photo and shouted the outsider has won..at the same time it went 1.05..i only got 1.2 down...it only takes a split sec for the market to flip.

as i tell everyone..never ever bet as you see them go over live.

neither do i.  but as i said earlier if you find why the market was suspended ... you will also find out why someone was going gung-ho one second before the suspend monkey pressed the button.  it was a pre-suspend swipe, you're familiar with them, think you got a warning about them.

can only assume either no ocr and were premature or they lost the connection.

you know the score William - 1.53 to 4.7 and then one second later it suspends for no apparent reason.  I'll let people make their own mind up ... leave it at that.

There was no Betfair representative on track last Sunday.

Their representative was sick.

doesn't explain the suspension 1 second post-swipe.  someone had been told / found out ventriloquist had won that race, swiped the odds available and laid the eventual winner 1.53 to 4.7.  one second later the market just happened to suspend, as if by magic.  however someone must have questioned that 'initial decision' - heated debate followed and 10 minutes later the other one was called the winner.  my opinion based on what i saw.

Mr C I'm very interested to understand how the suspend procedure works. I know you're hugely knowledgeable about Lingfield ; with regard  to the usual girl  does she suspend when she hears the words "here is the result..." or is she given an early warning signal to allow her a few more seconds to suspend the markets ?

So is Mr C saying Betfair opened the photo market despite having no-one on track and then just took a guess as to when the result may be called, and were about 8 minutes out?

the swipe and the suspend should be mutually exclusive, if so the chances of them happening within a second of each other is virtually nil.

Posy when there is a photo or stewards enquiry called  she is on her mobile to the office. She does not get an early warning. As soon as she hears them saying over the tannoy, "The result is" she tells the person on the other end of the phone to suspend.

I cannot explain what happened last Sunday as they had no one on the track, my guess is they suspended after 2.5 minutes because they thought the result must be out by now. Maybe when they saw they big move they assumed the result was known.

hmmm, ok.  so the massive PPBF organisation, a listed company, uses a very advanced system to suspend markets which involves a person sitting in a room somewhere trying to guess when a result has been announced based on them seeing larger than expected market movements ... which themselves would be a result of someone having already heard the result being announced.

so why does the unsuspend happen after 50 yds and the suspend 50 yds past the line?

its done from bf towers by the quickest pics they have...if they lost reception the race occasionally wouldnt go into play woodit.

someone's going to have to tell that bird she's been wasting her time on the phone for the past 20 years ...

the ocr does instruct them on photos and inq's.

The OCR is on her mobile to PPBF in Dublin and she says suspend as soon as the stalls open and when they go by the line. Obviously if there is problems with her mobile reception they use TV pictures as a back up.
