Thats rubbish. He's good for another 2-3 years at least if he can stay injury free. If Mullins had his way Ruby will ride on until he's 50

Horses fall. Its an inevitable part of the game.When Ruby was out injured for most of last season, Mullins had more fallers than ever before. He had 11 fallers at the Cheltenham Festival alone. If you are in the business of blaming jockeys for falls then Ruby was only responsible for 2 of those. Mullins had 6 horses fall at the last at Cheltenham but Ruby wasn't on 5 of these.

He's the best of all time and still is the best.

If so, resignation today perhaps.

I'd like to see what percentage of these falls are horses that had been held up and Walsh had the horse under pressure whilst making the ground up as opposed to having it closer to the pace and not under as much pressure at the time of the fall.

I'm wondering if a few of these horses could be better positioned through the race therefore avoiding the kitchen sink being thrown at it late on which often is asking for trouble.

I would argue you are far more likely to get a late fall with horses who have had too much use made of them early on.

Walsh is great from the front if he feels the horse has no fitness/stamina issues and/or the pace is too slow, and equally great when he drops one out(free-running types or stamina or fitness doubts). Neither tactic is done just for the sake of it - there's always some logic to it.

I haven't read the quote but it is almost unique for Mullins to criticise Walsh, or any jock in public.

Even the most cocky and arrogant of people can suffer from a lack of confidence. In fact it probably hits them harder as they find it harder to believe that anything could go wrong. It wouldn't be such a surprise if that lack of confidence is transmitted between horse and jock.

The playing field is somewhat different for Walsh and Mullins than it was a few years ago. Elliott has upped the stakes. There are fewer penalty kicks than there used to be. There is also the competition from within. Townsend and Mullins Jnr are quite often stepping up and getting the job done. There isn't such a gulf as to who is top dog. That gap closes each time Walsh ends up on his arse.

The other jocks are now waking up and not showing him too much respect. Easy lead Ruby, you can have the rail Ruby...These days it doesn't happen quite so often.

I,m not sure this has anything to do with Faugheen or even his fallers, Quick Grabim and My Sister Sarah were two absolutely brutal rides which a conditional would have put their hand up and said sorry.

Sorry no disrespect is meant but where has the OP seen this quote ?  The trainer is very loyal to his jockeys especially Ruby.
