Beautiful it was standing on its 4 legs, with its boxy body, lovely turntable, nice Arm, would play 3 speeds 33,45 and 78s, fantastic. Looked at it for ages, said to Dad, need a record to play on it dad. He said Ok and we went to rumbelows to buy one. You pick one son he said and gave me 10bob. Looked at them for ages and plumpt for one i'd seen on Ready, Steady Go. Can i have Tom Jones record please i said to the girl assistant, and she said that will be 6 and 8 lad, 34p to you youngsters! Gave dad his change and ran home to play it! Put it on the DansetteGrin and watched it go round and round, but blimey 90 secs later it had finished i was really brassed off! So next day i walked back to rumbelows with the record and said to the girl, bought this Tom Jones record yesterday and you charged me 6 and 8 and it only played for 90 secs, she looked at it and said "It's Not Unusual."Laugh

It's utter b0llix, Stew.

A Dansette never had legs. It was like a suitcase.

I was on holiday a while back, met this Australian fellow, he told me he had a number one hit in the UK back in the 60s
I didn't recognise him, he told me his name was Frank Ifeld...
I said, "I remember you"

LaughLaugh, you are right Pete, wasn't actually a Dansette, but a record player with legs, just trying to make the story more colourful.
As I read this opening post I couldn't remember what it was I'd written 7 years ago.Grin

I recently went to the Doctors complaining of lack of sleep due to consistantly hearing Tom Jones hits
The Doctor said,"you have Tom Jones Syndrome".
I asked if it was rare?
He said,"It's not unusual"Laugh

The Dansette Monarch had legs, as did a couple of other Dansette models.

yes that's right Blackburn but nowadays finding one with the legs included is not so easy , must get lost over the years.
