Far too many low grade meetings that have to cater for the amount of low grade horses in training, with ridiculously low levels of prize money.Too many 8 race cards too, lowering the level of prize money.
As pointed out by Richard Hughes in his article in the RP,2nd place prize money should be a higher % of the win  money.
Wolverhampton had 3 or 4 races worth under £3,500 to the winner the other day.It is 2018 and that level of prize money is shocking.
This situation exists because of too many meetings, giving too many races with low prize money.
Still the year on year fixture clashes, like Haydock and Chester,Sandown and Kempton ,Goodwood and Lingfield etc. carry on without any comeback
Yet the BHA still think they are doing a great job!

No race should be worth less than £5,000,and low prize money certainly encourages skullduggery.
Racing relying on bookmaker's profits indirectly from FOBTs is another issue that needs addressing.Time to get their act together.

The BHA can't do anything about fixture clashes. The old 30 miles rule fell foul of the law.

Thought it was a 50 mile radius, between Racecourses - Ramruma

doesnt matter how close courses are to each other, if it makes commercial sense for each individual course they will be happy to race (..and if there was any appreciable drop off in attendance due to a local clash, they wouldn't want to race)...dont think BHA can do much about it

i would like to see a split in racing. The tracks who want to do the best for racing go one way (RUK) and the tracks who want to think short term and support the bookmakers can go another (ATR and SIS). Play the long game and leave all the rubbish on ATR/Sky racing.

If they want to stage low quality 10 meetings on a Saturday let them. And the good quality stuff can be on RUK and terrestrial. Basically a Premiership/Championship situation. Or something along those lines.
