Reminds me of an incident I witnessed first hand at Beverley a couple of seasons ago.
A horse got loose heading towards the parade ring, jumped the railings into the ring ,ran across and jumped the railings at the bottom of the ring scattering the occupants of the benches just beyond (never seen a bunch of seniors move so quickly) before jumping over said benches and running down the paved slope and sliding sideways into the wall at the bottom. It then turned around heading back towards the parade ring, hung a right and demolished part of the woodwork on the ramp for the disabled viewing platform, fortunately not occupied. It turned back and ran full galop towards the four deep crowd where the bookies stand. Miraculously the crowd parted like the red sea and as far as I could tell no-one got run over (although I dis see a bloke with a bloody nose afterwards). I lost sight of it as the crowd closed ranks. By all accounts it ran into the Members' enclosure where it was quickly coralled and marched out. (It wasn't wearing a tie!). |
