I am sure it is not a good month for backing favourites.
I look for horses that haven't yet won this season that need the win to cover some fees and keep the owners in for the ride. Seems to work quite well. |

..and I don't like the first month of the real flat season..too many unknowns at that stage for me.

judging by this season with the change in going september record breaking month for results, april very
slow month and a good month to prepare the key strategies for the flat season, type of bets and staking strategy to maximise returns |

Think Julian Wilson ex BBC only backed on the flat from june to august.

Difficult to pinpoint a certain month. I concentrate on the better meetings and have made a profit, at most, if not all 'festivals' throughout the year. Then along came Doncaster which wasn't good and two out of three bets at Newmarket this week have been stinkers. Not sure I can just put the reverses down to the time of the year.

Octobers usually when the going starts to change - this provides an extra challenge. All the Summers fast ground form can become irrelevant as the soft ground horses come to the fore.

If the theme on this post is right, then surely a time for Laying in that case ![]() |

My post was just referring to my type of betting which has nothing to do with backing favourites, stu. I mostly look for value in the place markets.

But sure (re the quote above) if form gets shaky then it's the shorties based on form that should be getting taken on. If that is true of course.
