I suspect a few might be counting their losses on Skelton.
skelton's agent must have the cushiest job in racing
i know but what's the point if he can't get him a ride?
does he get a share of his winnings from the in-house rides? 
Skelton doesn't ride out for other trainers, as far as I know. You won't get outside rides if you don't put yourself about.
