have you listened to his 4.05 commentary
By:
Certainly did. Awful mess at the end.
By:
It must be really difficult to motivate yourself for the lower grade meetings when you've been working regularly at a higher level as in the C4 days...
By:
biggest gamble of the day,1st horse beaten over a mile from home on and off the bridle 4 or 5 different points in the race not seen once by holt compounded by telling everyone who,d seen what holtr hadn't that the horse was going well, either blind or completely uninterested either way time to go, only has an actual job for 10 mins a day and if you cant be arsed for about 8 mins of them whats the point

i always enjoy his calls and hadn't noticed a drop in standard when I've heard him at the likes of Brighton, Font or Plump over the last year. what's more think he's much better than some of those who appear to be getting the big gigs

By:
I have always liked him as a commentator
By:
I get the feeling he's not to fussed about doing the lesser meetings. A lot are near home and the pay is still good. Makes you wonder what tracks like York, Donny, Goodwood & Newbury are thinking giving gigs to Mike Catt & Barty when Holt and Howes are available. They mustn't listen much to commentaries.
By:
Cattermole & Bartlett are the top of the range for snob value - the two most well-spoken commentators doing the job. I wonder who selects them?
By:
Barty is OK once you accept what he says bears little resemblance to the pictures. An Extel commentator (NAP)
By:
He shattered a window in my house with his - Direct Route fAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIGHTS back on the inside.
By:
The Catt is the worst
By:
Simon Holt, to me anyway, is a very good and consistent commentator, we all have our off days whatever our walk of life is.
Barty is OK but certainly not in Richard Hoiles's class and I really don't care for Cattermole at all, he would be my least favourite commentator. |
By:
what about
blasting off the front blasting over the top blasting down the outside or is blasting from anywhere only peculiar to Beverly ![]() ![]() |
By:
^ No, they lash home at Beverley!
By:
oh yeh he likes a lashing home
![]() |
By:
now that IS desperate
By:
Holt would be my favourite. In a class of his own. Cattermole is dire
By:
Anyone remember when Catt called the wrong horse home at Newbury and RUK erased and replaced it with a do over commentary?
By:
Yes I remember
By:
Catt really is dire.
Holty maybe not up for 'the cold Tuesday nights at Stoke', but he is still in the top 3 we have. Admittedly the field isn't bursting with talent. |
By:
Peter O`Sullevan will never be surpassed.
By:
Or the bloke who comes out of his house on The Melling road to commentate on the national once a year..John Hanmer
By:
John Hanmer always sounds like hes commentating from inside a can thats being violently shaken
By:
Thommo - that's one for the judge
![]() |
By:
Crossing Wilson Avenue at Brighton. He never fails to mention it.
By:
I used to like the old commentators John Penney Raleigh Gilbert the voice etc catt is the worst I would have him on a par with thommo
By:
Don't rate too many of todays commentators. Always calling horses who are well beaten, inside the final furlong.
Still haven't heard a better comm than Julian Wilson. |
By:
Wilson was a dogsh!t commentator!
By:
simon holt nice guy but seems a bit dull. don't really understand why he gets a full page column in the weekender. surely they could get someone a bit more interesting.
