Perhaps that is what Saxon Warrior's BACKERS have said for his PREVIOUS 4 races - when he was similarly beaten - including in the Eclipse and the York International by the SAME ROARING LION.
Looks like nothing but a poor pocket-talking post from here. |

What did you think of it's head carriage through the race FullBloom or the fact that it didn't lengthen once asked to do so....In fact nevermind, Keep moaning about jockeys when you can't see a bl@@dy thing that's happening in front of you.

Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday AIS, Hopefully will catch up at Longchamp.

Did Frankie get outgunned by Ryan Moore on Max Dynamite and Lah Ti Dar? I don`t think so as stated below the best horse won in both cases and by the way the top jockey at a major meeting,Doncaster, was Ryan Moore again.

roadrunner, my post was a response to the OP

I would be one of Ryans biggest critics , but NO blame could be attached to him yesterday whatsoever. Both horses were given brilliant rides and on the day Lion was best, two horses that give their all as we saw from former encounters between them. It was a race to savour and it worked out that way..
|
|
By:
well if you believe what the loons like willo say, going from a married mans gallop to flat out in a matter of strides like ryan tried to do is not the most efficient way of bringing the best out of your horse
another loon like myself might think the best way to get the best out of a 2000 winner who they thought would be better over further would be to come of a fast pace in a well run 10 furlongs, but thar ye go, if pots and pans |

dave ord off and running on atr a master class in tactics by ballydoyle, erhm they finished 2nd
|
|
By:
I think you fail to understand the term master class in this context 1st, they carried out their plan to perfection, sadly for them it didn't work this time , but the PLAN was good...

Moore did all he could, horse was wanting to hang, look closely as RL bears down on him, Moore goes to change his hands on the reins to ask SW to respond, but almost immediately he's forced to apply pressure to the right rein to stop the horse from lugging into the rail.
Look at the RP comments: "reduced lead under hands and heels well inside the final furlong..." That wasn't Moore taking it easy, that was Moore having a job keeping the horse straight imo. |
|
By:
only 3 wide of the bend a position described by kevin blake as the golden highway in the last couple of runnings of this race and carried all the way to the line by his most serious rival, john gosdens indeed thinks ballydoyle got the tactics spot on for his horse,

or it could just be the umpteenth time this month alone ,highlighted on here about moores problems in switching his whip through, couldnt do it in a race last week because he got it caught on the rail |
|
By:
I don't think that was the case on this occasion, 1tp
What I described above I think is well shown on the head on, particularly at the 50 yard pole when Moore attempts to get after SW to respond. |
|
By:
I should stress I don't think it was the difference between victory and defeat, RL obviously has a potent turn of foot that will destroy most horses, but I'd fairly adamant imo, that for whatever reason, SW was not on an even keel and running straight and true.
|
|
By:
Still found it surprising that Ryan Moore didn't use his whip behind the saddle in the final furlong.
|
|
By:
I've not gone back and watched the Juddmonte, but it was in the back of my mind that SW hung left at York, and that is noted in the comments on the sporting life site
"Held up in touch, driven to chase leaders towards far side of group over 2f out, soon hung left, ridden over 1f out, kept on same pace, no impression opened 5/1 touched 11/2" |
|
By:
Sax was given an opportunistic ride by Moore courtesy of the tactics employed by AOB which very nearly bore fruit. On the other hand Roaring Lion (RL) was not given a good ride by Oisin eg RL was 2nd last, and was wide despite the sedate pace of the race; RL only managed to get after Sax (Sax quickened and stole at least 2l up) when Oisin straightened him, and then got him balanced before RL made ground hand over fist on Sax. Otherwise Sax and Moore would definitely have held on.
On similar conditions and distance on a straight track I'd be on RL even in the presence of Cracksman, Enable, Too Darn Hot, Sea Of Class, Poets Word, Crystal Ocean and/or Lah Ti Dar. RL is the champion 10f on good/firm ground, I firmly believe. |

By:
Makes sense now, Ryan obviously sensed something wrong and looked after him. Without that I think he would have prevailed.
