Race 1 - 3:30pm
THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF SALISBURY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) (FOR (FOR LADY AMATEUR RIDERS )
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of GULLAND ROCK, ridden by Miss Kerryanne Alexander and trained by Anthony Carson, which finished eighth, beaten 20 ¼ lengths, under apparent tender handling. The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of GULLAND ROCK failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated that her instructions were to jump out and try and get to the front and if possible sit around three horses off the rail. She further stated that the gelding jumped well but she could not get to the front. Having viewed the film she agreed that she had not pushed GULLAND ROCK out but she had not realised that she wasn’t doing so, during the race. The trainer confirmed the instructions, adding that GULLAND ROCK does not like horses around him. He further added that he was happy with the ride considering it was Miss Alexander’s first ride in public. Miss Alexander was suspended for 10 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure her horse was run on its merits, in that she had not made sufficient effort to obtain the best possible placing.

she didn't realise she wasn't trying until they showed her a video of her not trying, at which point she agreed she wasn't trying .... seems perfectly reasonable  |

I agree sparrow that is shocking, the poor girl was probably a bag of nerves in the first place having her first ride on the Track.

Just typical of the people in charge of racing in this country they like to make an example of unimportant people in the sport and let the real bad guys carry on as usual.
