Have to agree - a great race. Reminded me a bit of the Fantastic Light/Galileo finish of a few years ago..

Lion ate him

Cracking performance considering the Ballydoyle tactics slow pace and ensuring Lion had to race wide

bolger horse also did him no favours .... funnily enough

On similar conditions and trip Roaring Lion (RL) will devour Saxon Warrior (SW), any time and any day; only way SW can beat RL is the former's stablemates caged RL.

great race but in no way did it show lions superiority.

Today's run was reminiscent of The Eclipse eg 2nd last, taken wide by Sax's stablemate and then had to come wide to challenge. If anything, today's performance could be deemed better by RL given the improved welfare of AOB's horses, more runners, Sax had a start and then quickened 2f out before Murphy could straighten RL up before challenging in the last 1f.
Sax will be vulnerable to the likes of Poets Word, Cracksman and Crystal Ocean over 10f, I firmly believe, even if RL is absent. |
