Might look straightforward at first with the FAV looking hard to beat but with Saxon Warrior continuing to get worse as the races fly by I think that Study of Man is not only a good price at approx. even money for a place I firmly think it might give the FAV most to think about. W/P  Here. gl/all.

I’ve back him but in the w/o RL market.

4/1 each way 1/4 place odds.

.....

Hoping that his last run was down to the way Knight to Behold  controlled the race and him needing the run and he’s come  on a tonne since.

The alternative theory is neither of the above is true and he’s just another c rappy Deep Impact in Europe.

No interest in this race it seems? FWIW, this race has been fairly good to me over the years and those that follow the race will no doubt remember the great performance by Fantastic Light a few years back.

It was one of R.Hills best ever rides......albeit he was on the pacemaker.Grin

Think that Saxon Warrior can turn the tables on the lion over this distance.

Lovely job, I thought he'd win a bit easier than that but jobsagoodun.

Great race, very gutsy class horse to make up so much ground.

looked like SW was hanging to me, would have ended up on the inner track had the rail not been there

Feel sorry for SW backers. AOB just cannot find a race where it will have a chance. The form has been dire since the 2000 and yet it still has it's backers.

Oisin Murphy got out of jail there. Saxon Warrior (SW) was on pole position coming off the bend with Roaring Lion (RL) made to come wide; RL just got up in the nick of time despite the persuader was not needed. A head start and a beating to SW again; surely The QE2 Stakes for the SW now.

that head on was quite revealing, Moore wasn't able to ride the horse out properly, look at the pressure he's having to apply to the right rein, and as soon as he senses RL bearing down and goes to change the reins to get after SW, he senses immediately that the horse wants to lug in to the rail.

Does that not mean SW was coming to the end of his tether ie he'd nothing left to give as his stamina was at its breaking point?

not imo, but something didn't look quite right. He's run to the line, but as RL bears down on him and Moore goes to change hands on the reins, he immediately has to start pulling on the right rein again to stop the horse from lugging into the rail again imo.

in a different sort of way, it's picked up in the RP comments in running: "reduced lead under hands and heels well inside the final furlong..."

why would Moore be riding "hands and heels" at such a late point in such a massive Group 1 for them?

cuz imo the horse was wanting to lug into the rail

Or possibly Moore could feel Sax had little to nothing left in his tank ie stamina near zero; Moore did try and nick the race. Nevertheless, both horse pulled right away from the rest.

I'd find it difficult for Sax to win a 10f Gp 1 race eg Champion Stakes at Ascot even in the absence of Roaring Lion; Poets Word, Cracksman, Crystal Ocean and possibly Laurens can do him for stamina, I believe.
