Immediately post The Derby Dee Ex Bee (DEB) would be the obvious selection. But the frequent runs on firmish ground has lowered the value of his credential, and had not won a race since his credible Derby run. The ground is good to soft at the moment after a bit of rain today however, come racing tomorrow and on present weather forecast the ground could be good again.
Lah Ti Dar has sound claims,...if only proven over this distance, but her price is too short now. I'll still side with Kew Gardens despite the ground; the value for me could be Southern France given his tender introductory run last time. But I'll oppose the 3 Godolphin owned horses again (similar to The Derby) hopefully, not to my cost (this time) - only has DXB in doubles and trebles placed soon after his Derby run. Hoping for a clean race, and may the best horse win. |

A nice write up i 123. Like yourself I'm a fan of Kew Gardens but in this case I'm trying to get some value and I think my selection is the value horse. IMHO of course.

Visual impressions can sometimes be misleading, I have serious reservations about DXB staying especially with team AOB most likely dictating tactics, if forced to put forward a pick would plump for Loxley

Loxley 4 places for me ,may want it a little softer but think it will run well.

You said similar about your next door neighbour Corky. ![]() |

Like Old Persian in this, couple of things bother me slightly - first one would prefer James Doyle to W Buick but thats just personal pref.
second is ground wouldnt want it any to go any softer imo but apart from that expecting a big run, always liked the great volg as a stepping stone to this in days gone by and royal ascot victory was fairly impressive, dont agree with RP that it wont stay - wasnt stopping in either race it won and irish derby run all wrong given it beat the second at RA previously these things happen when obrien is mob handed, plenty of Dubawi prog stay tomorrows trip and further. 12/1 on here is a stonking ew bet imo. Fav and 2nd fav obv chances and stews one has a chance if returning to derby form but think Godolphin can win another classic here. gl chaps |

Without a doubt DXB is value eg a Derby 2nd at 14/1, but the Derby overrans were non-stayers eg Roaring Lion and Saxon Warrior; Loxley in his last run did seem to be overstayed by Wells Farhh Go at Newmarket - his two wins in France were weak contests, I believe. And Old Persian has a bit to find with Kew Gardens in The Voltigeur run, and the latter was catching him at the business end too.

Old Persian for me also NeC
Don't normally side with Goldolphin horses in group 1s either |

I've got a shortlist of 12 for the race, so that's me out, but if stewy were to give me a fiver to put on one at a price in this, the 'rag' who I suspect has more to offer is Raymond Tusk.
But he's a free-goer and that is going to compromise his chance, however, if Andrea 'lovely hands' Atzeni can get him to settle, I'd be optimistic of a frame finish! |

Can only find one of Dubawis out of his many Singspiel mares that stayed 14f so for me the inexperienced favourite is not a proposition. On top of this the Leger is often a tough race to win - are they really going to put her through a serous fight in view of the more fashionable (breedingwise) 12f prizes to be won later on this year ?

By:
think the G1 fillies at Longchamp was the plan, but when Dettori got off at York, he apparently said Leger, and it looks like they've taken his advice.

My beast has drifted badly overnight but will still stick a little on at the bigger price.

By:
Loxley for me. Conditions suit, step up in distance should suit and got the best man up top.
What can possibly go wrong ? ![]() Good luck today everyone. |

My beast was 19.0 when I posted at 10:57. Now into 12.5..

It's been spitting down probably that is why your beast has contracted in price.

My first thought was Kew Gardens blah blah blah.
That aside, well done impossible123. |

It is nice if the result goes one's way (eventually) despite the less than ideal weather after the slip-up with Idaho (10/1) two seasons ago even if it meant I've to cover antepost bets on Kew Gardens with Lah Ti Dar (late). Nevertheless, still a good outcome for me.
Now the focus switches to The Irish Champions Day with Alpha Centauri and Roaring Lion. Then The Arc, follows by Ascot Champions Day. |
