I have long given up trying to fathom Saeed Bin Suroor.  By his account, he has had bad and inferior horses since Moses was a young lad, but I am invariably perplexed by the choices he makes at times?  For one, I have never been able to understand his "issue" with James Doyle

Does anyone know why he has jocked up Colm O'Donoghue on Dubai Beauty in the May Hill (Grp2) today, when both of the contracted riders to his boss - Buick & Doyle  - are also riding on the card?  Seems strange to me!  There is most likely nothing to it, but it seems a sure fire way of alienating people who are meant to be working hand-in-hand with you and displays a distinct lack of man management.

Incidentally, from 17 rides at Doncaster since 1999 to 2018
Colm O'Donoghue is:

1(WIN)
3(2nds)
1(3rd)
3(4th)

I wouldn't say he knows Town Moor like the back of his hand judging by those stats. Surprised

sbs has a free rain to use which ever jockeys he wants and will not use buick or doyle, must just about use the most jockeys throughout the flat season.
when asked, normally comes out with comment that he uses jockeys that suit my horses.

Thanks for your response Ashleigh.
It rather flies in the face of a "team" effort and more fool Sheikh Mohammed if the two jockeys he must pay a whacking packet to retain, are not allowed to ride one of his best horses.  I doubt Buick will be doing cartwheels in the weighing room if the filly scoots in.  I would have thought his description of the trainer would probably go along the lines of a word that begins with "W"
As in most things in life, bringing out the best in people is the way to success.  When you p*iss people off far too often, the chances are they will not give you their best.

Hardly needs explaining does it?

Why shouldn't the trainer have the choice? I think he has achieved enough to have an opinion.

You could equally argue why is there seemingly an imbalance between Appleby and Bin Suroor?

personally speaking I find the whole issue with jockeys overrated, most top jockeys are going to be good enough it's more about whether the horse is, but as far as I'm aware bin suroor fell out with both buick and doyle around about the same time, as according to him they were ignoring his orders.

A rather unfair summary of Colm's ability, without checking, I would hazard a guess that many of his rides on Town Moor were on AOB second or third choices which would assist in a negative distortion of his overall stats, if the horse is good enough he won't let connection's down

Lewisham Ranger, I wasn't aware of this aspect of Bin Suroor's relationship with both Buick and Doyle.  If that's the case, then fair enough.
