So Ryan is going through a bad patch, which all sports people go through, but the criticism is unwarranted.Ryan was not so long ago the god of racing with the betfair forumites. Now these same people give him relentless
criticism.it reminds me of Jesus christ when he was on earth, when Pontius Pilate asked the crowd who will i free they called out "free BARABBIS"and crucify christ .
Well poor little Ryan is feeling bad tonight and the hounds of betfair forum are gathering because they smell blood.Well i have news for all you Ryan Moore bashers,They did crucify christ but he did not die and after a weekend he was back in action, just like our Ryan who will be back tomorrow ,and the god of racing will rise again. The racing god is the best of the best ,and then it came to pass that the forumite bashers crawled back under their rock and were never heard of again.LaughLaughLaugh

You have to admit that his ride on Sextant was 10lb claimer stuff.

Moore has always been sh1t at Ascot. Anyone remember his high profile rides at Royal Ascot and Champions Day? Woeful, absolutely woeful, repeatedly out-ridden by the likes of Dettori and others.
Report brassneck September 7, 2018 11:26 PM BST
i know he is a strange guy moody and seldom smiles, but he must feel as bad as the punters that back him.Alan Shearer said that one time he could not buy a goal,it did not matter how hard he tried the ball would not go into the net,and his all round had got very poor because of the lack of goals, and then one game he was playing in the ball hit his backside and bounced into the net,and from that moment his gift of scoring had returned. But we all know Ryan Moore is a top jockey and his skill will come back, and gaps will open when they are not supposed to open and he will start winning by short heads and luck will return, there is not a sports person on the planet that has not lost his or her form at some time in their career, and Ryan MOORE Will come back better that he ever was.But i think that he is getting extra criticism because we all expect him to set the standard as a jockey and deep down we really know that he is one of the best jockey's ever seen on a race track.who knows we may even see him smile tomorrow.Happy

Frankie was absolutely woeful for at least a couple years, possibly more. Genuinely looked like he'd gone at the game. And then, against every expectation, he rose again.

Even the very top sportsmen and sportswomen can't be at the top of their game for ever. Same in every sport. It's the nature of it that you have peaks and troughs. Novak Djokovic, Diego Forlan, Eddie the Eagle, etc. That's why any achievement of longevity, in any sport, is doubly recognised.

To be the best, you gotta want it bad, and when others are snapping at your heels, it's very hard to sustain for long term consecutive periods.
Report brassneck September 8, 2018 12:32 AM BST
its sort of like gambling,we all have bad runs and no matter what we select it goes against us,and then for some reason lady luck returns .
Report doantwin2easy September 8, 2018 12:52 AM BST
I think so - to an extent you make your own luck when you're riding, as we do when we're studying. The rest is down to variance.

Ryan ain't got much to prove. That's part of the problem, if there is one. When any top sportsman gets to the front, there's only one way to go.

To stay at the top for years on end is incredibly difficult. And the assessment of a top jockey on here - the day to day grind of out-riding your peers - probably isn't his number one concern.

Not sure I can deciper any similarities between Ryan and Eddie the Eagle

Moore rides mainly on hope/chance - if it comes his way, fine - but without a Plan B even though it is obvious what other jockeys plan to do to him, For instance, sitting next to the rails/behind a wall of horses; he'd keep waiting for a gap to open regardless until it is either too late and/or not bothered at all. He does not ride races accordingly or proactively, but only reactively.
Report brassneck September 8, 2018 12:21 PM BST
what some people do not realise is that many favourites are made favourite to win the race just for the fact that it is Ryan Moore riding it,and it becomes a catch 22 situation ,
Ryan ends up riding a horse with average form yet the horse is made favourite, and when it loses everyone zooms in on the fact that its the jockey's fault that it was beaten.and the closer he gets to winning a race (on the average form horse) the more criticism he gets.
Report WindsorWizard September 8, 2018 12:25 PM BST
He's a crook plain and simple, should win easy on Mekong or will he do a Ted Heath rolling shoulders act to finish unplaced.
Report brassneck September 8, 2018 12:33 PM BST
its a bit like a high roller punter who puts 10 grand on a 1/10 and the odds on shot is beaten.Everyone are quick to scorn  this punter and laugh at him and say"he is a nutter and it serves him right for  trying to buy money"but if you ask the high roller where did he get the 10 grand in the first place he will tell you he got it backing 1/10 shots.
its a catch 22 ,just like Ryan''s mounts.
Report brassneck September 8, 2018 12:43 PM BST
and i ask you all a question,"why do you all expect Ryan Moore to win "and the answer is "because he is the best jockey"and he is the best jockey because he is a true winner,
and the public can not understand that all that is happening at the moment is that Ryan is having a bad run,FORM IS TEMPORARY,CLASS IS PERMANENT.
and Ryan Moore is a class jockey, and is simply the best, better than all the rest,as tina would sing.
Report granitjack September 8, 2018 1:16 PM BST
But he’s been crap for ages? It’s hardly temporary is it?!
Report Arklearkle September 8, 2018 1:26 PM BST
We expect Ryan to win because he rides many of the best horses. Joseph OBrien even though he was relatively young and inexperienced made far fewer mistakes than the great Ryan.
Report granitjack September 8, 2018 1:42 PM BST
Totally agree. Also think J O’Brien was far better than Moore anyway. Totally outride Moore in the Ascot Gold Cup when on Leading Light.

What has he done? If it's for riding Henry Longfellow the horse was just not good enough. Also, as it's AOB's it's been over-rated.

Charyn was different. His jockey was racing the wrong horses, and let the winner (pacer) a soft lead to win. I expect retribution next time.
