Just back from snapping up the 13/8 on Preacher Man.  Should go close if fit imo. As for the FAV I couldn't touch it at that price given there's not much between the two form wise.

Fitness could prove my downfall here but if it comes to jockeyship then I'm quite happy with my pilot. As for Dane it beggars belief that he wears that blue and white striped cap.

That said so did R.Hills...

gl/all.

Early days still but the FAV is 1.83 to back and 1.87 to lay as I type. No doubt the bots will rectify this pronto but FAV backers a tad unsure?

Would you trust an Osborne horse off an absence ?

yes, they couldn't give that ? Lush Life away in the betting the other night at Chelmsford, but it was fit enough to win!

Always lay Dane when hes on a short one.
Bad jockey at best add hes crooked mates to the fore then bingo easy money

Lush Life went off a huge price, but it's form was in the book. It if anything had the better form.

This one has marginally lesser form than the fav, for me I personally thought Osborne's horse if it won would get killed by the handicapper, and I would be surprised if it was "wanted" today.

Your 15.02 post was presumably referring to fitness, not form?

breezerboy, I'm more depending on the fitness of my horse rather than Dane being average at best. I think it has the best form but the fitness issue is a concern. That said, if Osborne has it primed I expect a good run for my money.

Dom, just as a matter of interest are you getting involved here?

I'm tempted to back the fav Stewarty, I like it's debut figure and I think there are a number of reason's why it ran poor last time out.

Charlie Hills on his blog seems keen on it and he's normally on the ball, but the drift is a little offputting, it may sound stupid but I would have been more happy to back it at 1/2 than it drifting to 5/6.

I don't have a view, my only observation would be this, and it also applies to the Hills horse in Prabeni's race:

Is the Hills stable now in better form than they were when those horses were last seen?
By:

I think Hills stable form is an interesting point George, but he is a trainer who is poor at placing his horses in my opinion, he over faces them, so I am not always sure they are out of form, but that he is running in races too tough for them, and therefore that can't deliver. But when he runs his horses in lesser races at lesser tracks his horses appear to step up.

@George.B

I actually like Charles Hills horse in the nursery tonight at Windsor. I think it has been highly tried in some hot novices and off 75 could be very well treated. (New Queen). debuted 2nd to the Queen Mary winner when always outpaced, second race ran in has worked out well and always outpaced in a strong 7f Kempton race last time. Up to a mile here and top weight in a nursery. Shame been a non runner taking race to 7 runners, but was around 6/1 on here and I liked it's profile now handicapping. A win and 4 place bet as cover might be how I play it, but on it's first two starts, it could be very well treated off 75.

Wufud goes for Hamdan Al Maktoum in the next. His racing manager Richard Hills said: "We thought he would have won by now but the bit of cut in the ground should help him. We'll be disappointed if he doesn't win."

Stable wise, Hills has the superior strike rate at 12%, Not hugely significant but Osborne's is only 5% (in the last 14 days) but one winner out of 20 doesn't read well although I have noticed in the past that Osborne can get a half decent beast ready to perform.

Why isn't Oisin riding it, domino, I thought he was the retained jockey for Qatar RL?

He's on Rollicking for Hannon, who shaped as though she'd relish the step up in trip last time in a HQ Class 2 nursery, though that was on slower ground than is forecast this evening.

As for New Queen, is she threatening to go the wrong way mentally?

Incidentally, Oisin rode one for Hannon at Nottingham a few weeks back and it was hammered in the betting, but after racing prominently, faded out of it.

Good point @George.B

Maybe the yard want to take some weight off her back being a filly with top weight and Jason Watson's 3lb comes in handy.

I don't think she's threatening to go the wrong way, I would suggest she maybe went through a growing phase and her speed has been blunted and now needs further. Some times 2yo's look early, show you good speed run well and all of a sudden they start growing on you, go all leggy and weak and completely change into a different sort of horse. Her run at kempton suggested a mile will be far more suitable for her.

Wufud odds against on here now.

Leaving race alone, has a stinky feeling to it. Probably a 50/1 shot will come out and win it !

When I say threatening to go the wrong way mentally, I mean this in the form comments:

"mounted in chute and ponied to start"

"unruly in paddock"

"went sharply right leaving stalls" (on third run)

Hood also went on last time.

At least you wouldn't have strayed from the middle to the rail. (Costing a length at least???)
By:

No I would have tried to come up on the outside of Dane, I would have probably let him kick first and try and pounce late on him.

I hope I'm not pocket talking Dom but that was a poor ride imo. Feel free to correct me but the late great Pat Eddery or Willie Carson would have won that imo. Bearing in mind that the two greats I mention had what Costello doesn't have......balance.

@Stewarty.B

Unless the horse doesn't like to be in a battle and wont put it all in when close to another horse, Dougies move to the rail makes no sense.

He was happy to track Dane all the way and I think he thought he was being clever. Try and make your move away from Dane so you get first run and he wont see you as your not in his direct eye line, as at the time Dane was still holding his horse together, however what he gained in trying to get that first run and injecting pace into the finish, he lost by drifting all the way across the course.

By:

I rode for him @Flukes

I know I wouldn't ever bet a horse from his yard unless I KNEW what the plan was. One of many trainers who shouldn't have a license.

At Ffos Las they normaly race centre and keep away from the rail. Very strange ride by going to the rails.

I don't know if that is an overall view Dom but at least he had the horse fit and ready. Pity about the pilot.
