How many lengths do you reckon he lost coming right across to the near side rail? Half a dozen at least I would have said Cry

Very...clearly! As per usual the RUK don’t even really bother mentioning it...

I thought the rails helped Defoe to run on again towards the finish whilst the other two infront were "running" on the spot without the rails. Maybe Defoe could do with a trip longer than 12f.

It was the ground it gave away before it got to the rail that cost it, if it had cut the corner like the winner it wouldn’t have had the 2 or 3 lengths to make up

The biggest problem was no pace, he sat second, but the leader and the eventual winner Kicked 500 metres out, at which point Atzeni was making a run for the stands rail. In reality, Atzeni should have kicked for home earlier and had a lead whilst making that move. Yes the rail has helped him run on well, but in allowing the eventual winner to cut up the inside and get first run on him, whilst he was heading for the rail, cost he 2/3L and he ran out of real estate in the final 100 yards. Had Atzeni decided to commit early and make that move I have no issues with it, but by waiting and then doing it whilst the others get first run on him, then the move was pointless as hasn't given him any advantage.

Rancid ride and how some people can say it was helped by the rail is unbelievable
